Hi, Are there any mini Linux distributions (e.g. BasixLinux, FREESCO) available that can be used to run Xen? Let me explain my scenario: I have a computer with a 8MB Microdisk as hard drive. I want to boot up a small Linux distro from the 8MB Microdisk and use Xen to load a FreeBSD image from a NFS. Is this feasible? We have developed HTTP-FUSE Xenoppix which boots with 6MB CD-ROM. http://unit.aist.go.jp/itri/knoppix/http-fuse/xen/index-en.html Unfortunately it uses old Xen 2.0.7 and boots Plan9 and NetBSD. I will update Xen and OSes for DomainU soon. Please refer the paper and slide at Ottawa Linux Symposium 2006. How difficult would it be (how much time is required) to adapt Xenoppix to run FreeBSD 6x as a client? It seems to be quite small. I just cannot test it currently because it insists of using a whole disks (no partitions! so no dual.boot on a system with only one disk) The Xen tools, which are used to control the Xen domains, are written in python - so basically you need a kernel, a shell, and python as minimal features for a Xen host - bridge-utils are also quite handy. Hello, We have not customized Xen on Xenoppix. So You can install Guest OS with a normal way. However current HTTP-FUSE Xenoppix includes Xen2.0.6. Least Xenoppix includes Xen3.0.3 but it is DVD (1.3GB) bootable. We will make HTTP-FUSE Xenoppix of Xen3.0.3. ------ suzaki >>From: "Gerrit Niezen (Trispen)" <gerrit@trispen.com> >>Subject: Re: [Xen-users] Xen on Mini Linux >> >>How difficult would it be (how much time is required) to adapt Xenoppix >>to run FreeBSD 6x as a client? >> >>Regards, >>Gerrit Niezen >> >> >>> Date: Mon, 04 Dec 2006 19:57:50 +0900 (JST) >>> From: Kuniyasu Suzaki <k.suzaki@aist.go.jp> >>> Subject: Re: [Xen-users] Xen on Mini Linux >>> To: xen-users@lists.xensource.com >>> Message-ID: <20061204.195750.116625885.k.suzaki@aist.go.jp> >>> Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset=us-ascii >>> >>> >>> Hi, >>> >>> >>From: "Gerrit Niezen (Trispen)" <gerrit@trispen.com> >>> >>Subject: [Xen-users] Xen on Mini Linux >>> >> >>> >>Are there any mini Linux distributions (e.g. BasixLinux, FREESCO) >>> >>available that can be used to run Xen? >>> >> >>> >>Let me explain my scenario: I have a computer with a 8MB Microdisk as >>> >>hard drive.
