Re: [Xen-users] Fedora Core 4 - development "Domain 0 allocation is too small for kernel image"
Hi The 2.6.13 build is broken and it won''t work. It is described in Redhat bugzilla. Eithet you use the 2.6.11 or download working version from http://people.redhat.com/riel/xen_for_fc4/ -- Timo ----- Kris Buytaert <mlkb@x-tend.be> kirjoitti:> On Mon, 2005-09-05 at 11:51 +1000, Dave+Seddon wrote:> I''m running into exactly the same problem on a HP ML310 > > Did you have more luck with other FC based RPM''s > > greetz > > Kris_______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

The 2.6.13 seemed to have those packages ready. Neither the rpm''s from Rik or the Official Xen source have those.. otherwise I`ll have to start building myselve :) greetz -- Kris Buytaert <mlkb@x-tend.be> _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I too used the rpms listed above and got Xen to boot the RH FC4 distro (networking didn''t work though...) Performance was disappointing. This statement is based on interactive desktop behaviour: startup, firefox, etc.. It was easy to run glxgears as a quick test so see below. I''m a bit concerned because alot of the interest in Xen is due to the claims like: <quote> Linux''s performance is consistently close to native Linux, the worst case being OSDB-IR, which experiences an 8% slowdown. </quote> (http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/Research/SRG/netos/xen/performance.html) So do other people see similar performance? Am I doing something wrong/silly? Is it reasonable to expect better interactive performance for dom0? Performance seemed so bad that I didn''t bother to configure and start a domU... not a good first impression. I''m running Xen 3.0 under Ubuntu 5.10 on my P4 2.6 GHz desktop with 2.5 Gb RAM. This system is running 3 domU''s, plus all my desktop apps in dom0 (Gnome, Evolution, Firefox, Gaim, XMMS, terminals). I don''t notice any performance degradation comparing running under Xen versus booting native Linux 2.6 Kernel. $ glxgears -printfps 5792 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1158.346 FPS 5790 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1157.878 FPS 5791 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1158.187 FPS 5768 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1153.571 FPS I''m compiled xen 3.0.0 from source I received from xensource.com. I use the combined kernel, not separate dom0/domU kernels, because I wanted all the device drivers, especially XFS. -- Patrick Wolfe email: pwolfe@employease.com _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
