Hi, As from my experience and from what I saw on this list, there seem to be some issues with support of xen for some hardware (e.g., some hardware only running with acpi=off, which is said to be a bad idea, so I wouldn''t want to run such thungs in production). I have a problem with this when it comes to try using xen in a production environment, and the hardware I order will not work with xen. To help with that, is there a hardware (in)compatibility list - stuff that is known to work, or the contrary, with xen? Thanks in advance, Henning _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Rock solid. Had a test server running too, an old DELL PowerEdge. No problems, but the controller died on me a month back. Can''t blame anything but hardware-rot for that (was >4 yrs old). I have to say sorry for that question, anyway, I only searched the xen manual and the wiki, a search in the list archive which I just made, showed me that this question is asked nearly every two weeks. Therefore, I created a wiki page for it, and will add some more information as it becomes available, also from all those threads already existing about this topic - for now, I just link them on the page. The wiki page is at http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/HardwareCompatibilityList I hope it''s useful for others, I will add hints on the machines which work only with acpi=off when back at the office on monday. Ideally, just so to avoid multiple points of reference, please use the XenTestCD (see http://www.xensource.com/xen/downloads/ - link to the TestCD is located at end of the page) to add to the Xen hardware compatibility list database. Also, a list of hardware tested using the XenTestCD is located here: http://www.xensource.com/community/xen30testing/summary.php Regards, -Ovais On Sat, 2006-01-14 at 20:06 +0100, Henning Sprang wrote:> On Tue, 2006-01-10 at 14:33 +0100, JHJE (Jan Holst Jensen) wrote: > > > To help with that, is there a hardware (in)compatibility list - stuff > > > that is known to work, or the contrary, with xen? > > > > type HP ProLiant DL380 G3 > > cpu 2 x 2.8 GHz XEON > > memory 4 GB > > os Debian 3.1 (Sarge, stable) + Xen 2.0.6 > > disk RAID-1+0, 3 logical drives > > > > Uptime 186 days now, 5 guest domains with low to medium load.
