I''m dabbling with xen, and tried downloading the Xen LiveCD 3.0 from http://www.xensource.com/xen/downloads/, via the torrent there. When I boot from this CD, I get dumped to a grub> prompt, and can''t figure out how to go further. I can''t find an MD5SUM for that ISO. And when I check Xen on sourceforge, and try to download the ISO from there, the file is 0 bytes long. I search, and the two threads I can find two threads: http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2005-09/msg00294.html http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.xen.user/5779 Any clues for getting this working? Hi, I am looking to using a serial port for a bit of gadget. Every thing works under Debian Sarge, but since I''ve installed xen I can''t seem to access it on any of the DomU, even Dom0. I''ve read some of the archive listings, and some people have manged this. In my grub this is what I have: title Xen-Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.11-ocxen0 root (hd0,0) kernel /xen.gz dom0_mem=65536 physdev_dom0_hide=''(00:14.0)'' xencons=off console=vga module /xen-linux-2.6.11-ocxen0 root=/dev/hda2 ro vga=771 console=vga xencons=off savedefault boot I''ve read that I need to enable the serial drivers on dom0, but I can''t figure out how. Could anyone give me some pointers? Also, I''ve downloaded the kernel source and wanted to see how to allow hiding and exposing serial ports to domU, can anyone give me the heads up before I dig into it? Any help I''ll be grateful. Just to close this up. Instead of trying to hack the xen code, I decided to buy a USB-RS232 cable. And by passing the USB port to the domU, I was able to access the serial port. However, this required abit of kernel compiling, as usbserial driver was not compiled into the kernel, and obviously the driver for converted need to be compiled too. And it all works well. So I tried different hardware. They both worked a treat on a fairly new AMD64 desktop system. The system they wouldn''t boot from is an Acer Aspire 1313LC laptop. Submitted a bug. We might try and move later versions of the demo CD over to isolinux, but the grub problems seem to only affect a small minority of users, and some of them reported success with a bios upgrade. best, Ian _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Whereas ISOLINUX just works out of the box and the sources are well-written. Out of curiosity, what is the advantage of using Grub on the demo CD? _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Also, the grub command line is rather more flexible and people are generally more familiar with using grub.
