[Xen-devel] Xen-hypervisor 3.2 on HP Proliant DL380 G6
Hello all, I have one server with 2 processors QuadCore: E5530 and 30 GB of memory, like can looks: processor : 15 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 26 model name : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5530 @ 2.40GHz stepping : 5 cpu MHz : 2400.102 cache size : 8192 KB physical id : 1 siblings : 1 core id : 3 cpu cores : 1 apicid : 23 initial apicid : 23 fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 11 wp : yes flags : fpu de tsc msr pae cx8 apic sep mtrr cmov pat clflush acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht syscall nx lm constant_tsc rep_good pni ssse3 cx16 sse4_1 sse4_2 popcnt lahf_lm ida bogomips : 4801.78 clflush size : 64 cache_alignment : 64 address sizes : 40 bits physical, 48 bits virtual I has beens instaled Debian Lenny 5 and follow packages: ii libxenstore3.0 3.2.1-2 Xenstore communications library for Xen ii linux-image-2.6.26-2-xen-amd64 2.6.26-24 Linux 2.6.26 image on AMD64, oldstyle Xen support ii linux-modules-2.6.26-2-xen-amd64 2.6.26-24 Linux 2.6.26 modules on AMD64 ii xen-hypervisor-3.2-1-amd64 3.2.1-2 The Xen Hypervisor on AMD64 ii xen-linux-system-2.6.26-2-xen-amd64 2.6.26-24 XEN system with Linux 2.6.26 image on AMD64 ii xen-shell 1.8-3 Console based Xen administration utility ii xen-tools 3.9-4 Tools to manage Debian XEN virtual servers ii xen-utils-3.2-1 3.2.1-2 XEN administrative tools ii xen-utils-common 3.2.0-2 XEN administrative tools - common files ii xenstore-utils 3.2.1-2 Xenstore utilities for Xen ii xenwatch 0.5.2-1 Virtualization utilities, mostly for Xen obviously my hardware has virtualization support for hvm: xm dmesg | grep -i hvm (XEN) HVM: VMX enabled and xm info | grep xen_caps xen_caps : xen-3.0-x86_64 xen-3.0-x86_32p hvm-3.0-x86_32 hvm-3.0-x86_32p hvm-3.0-x86_64 and grep -i vmx /proc/cpuinfo this nothing return, but this no have problema, because I have other servers without this output and hvm works fine. all virtualization options has turn enable in the BIOS well, go ahead: The paravirtualization works fine. Every HVM machine freezing when boot. I tested in the folow scenaries: - Boot from iso of Windows install Media 2008/ XP etc ... Freeze when boot on image - Boot from iso of ubunt Freeze after I enter the option in grub, in loading kernel ... - Boot from Windows 2008 ready image that run perfectly in another machine Freeze during .. loading windows files .... Re: [Xen-devel] Xen-hypervisor 3.2 on HP Proliant DL380 G6
Hi all, Only to register, after my tests ... HP DL380 G6 is not compatible with xen-3.2 on Debian Lenny kernel 2.6.26. The HVM hosts hangs on boot. My tests with Debian Lenny 2.6.26-2 xen kernel and Xen-3.4.3 works fine and without problems.
