[Xen-devel] Xen guest performance as a streaming server
Hi, I am using xen3.4.1 with pv kernel 2.6.31.4 and testing my xen guest performance as a streaming media server and the other as web server. the trends are same for both of them. (1)When i tried to access media files from an internel guest, streaming looks very poor. (2)Then incase of accessing them from an externel guest its again poor but just a little bit better than before. (3)Incase of accessing them from host of the same machine it results good. But i have not such issues with my previouse set up on FC8. Why the guests acts like this? Regards, Fasiha Ashraf Add whatever you love to the Yahoo! India homepage. Yes, get the latest pv-ops dom0 kernel 2.6.31.5. I have just installed it. I think FC8 Xen is not based on pv-ops but on conventional Xen linux 2.6.18 forward ported. -- Mr. Teo En Ming (Zhang Enming) Dip(Mechatronics) BEng(Hons)(Mechanical Engineering) Alma Maters: (1) Singapore Polytechnic (2) National University of Singapore My Primary Blog: http://teo-en-ming-aka-zhang-enming.blogspot.com My Secondary Blog: http://enmingteo.wordpress.com My Youtube videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/enmingteo Email: space.time.universe@gmail.com MSN: teoenming@hotmail.com Mobile Phone (SingTel): +65-9648-9798 Mobile Phone (Starhub Prepaid): +65-8369-2618 Age: 31 (as at 30 Oct 2009) Height: 1.78 meters Race: Chinese Dialect: Hokkien Street: Bedok Reservoir Road Country: Singapore On Mon, Nov 2, 2009 at 6:41 PM, Pasi Kärkkäinen <pasik@iki.fi> wrote:> On Mon, Nov 02, 2009 at 02:36:27PM +0530, Fasiha Ashraf wrote: > > Hi, > > I am using xen3.4.1 with pv kernel 2.6.31.4 and testing my xen > > guest performance as a streaming media server and the other as web > server. > > the trends are same for both of them. > > (1)When i tried to access media files from an internel guest, > streaming > > looks very poor. > > (2)Then incase of accessing them from an externel guest its again poor > but > > just a little bit better than before. > > (3)Incase of accessing them from host of the same machine it results > good. > > But i have not such issues with my previouse set up on FC8. Have you tested its network performance?
