[Xen-devel] pv_ops DomU boot problem using pvgrub, xen 3.4.1-rc7, debian 2.6.26 dom0
I can''t boot my PV domU domain using a pv_ops 2.6.30.1 kernel. Using the xenified standard debian kernel (2.6.26, the same as in dom0) in DomU it does boot with pvgrub. Any clues, to what to try or test ? Hello Samuel, I''m using the 2.6.26-2-xen-amd64 shipped with debian lenny. It''s kind of messy at the moment, about what kernel to use for dom0. This one has xen barrier support (and advertises it so minios makes use of it), but maybe the actual backend real block driver doesn''t. To circumvent it you can comment if (dev->info.barrier == 1) blkfront_push_operation(dev, BLKIF_OP_WRITE_BARRIER, 0); in extras/mini-os/blkfront.c. That being said, that shouldn''t harm the pv-grub boot, we probably need to have a look at the actual kernel crash too. Re[2]: [Xen-devel] pv_ops DomU boot problem using pvgrub, xen 3.4.1-rc7, debian 2.6.26 dom0
Hello Samuel, Hmm a lot of confusion :-) so i use: dom0: kernel 2.6.26-2-xen-amd64 as domU kernel: 2.6.26-2-xen-amd64 works (haven''t tried it with pvgrub though) but domU kernel: 2.6.30.1 using pvgrub doesn''t. Did the gdb vmlinux on the vmlinux of the 2.6.30.1 domU kernel (i hope that was right :-) ) Sander Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 9:19:08 PM, you wrote:> Sander Eikelenboom, le Tue 21 Jul 2009 21:12:59 +0200, a écrit : >> Hmm could it be related to the topic: "[Xen-devel] Re: [PATCH] x86: detect >> use of extended APIC ID for AMD CPUs" ? >> >> gdb returns: >> 0xffffffff813ce1df <read_pci_config+43>: out %eax,(%dx)> Oh, out operation just can not work, for sure :)>> >> kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.30.1 >> >> initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.30.1> 2.6.30, that''s not the 2.6.26-2-xen-amd64 kernel> Samuel-- Best regards, Sander mailto:linux@eikelenboom.it _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel

Hello Samuel, Hmm doesn''t work without PVgrub either, so it''s just the 2.6.30.1 kernel. Here is my .config for the 2.6.30.1 kernel. and i think it will be the same as pointed out by bastian blank here: http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2009-07/msg00762.html Sander # # Automatically generated make config: don''t edit #
