Folks, We''re pleased to announce the release of Xen 3.0.1 ! This is primarily a bug fix and cleanup release. Although many of the fixes had already been cherry picked into 3.0-testing, we felt it was time to roll a new release and encourage people to upgrade. You can download src and binary tarballs along with RPMs for common distros from http://xensource.com/xen/downloads/ As usual, you can download the source using mercurial from http://xenbits.xensource.com/xen-3.0-testing.hg Since branching the code for the release, the -unstable tree has had some fairly major merges: support for AMD SVM virtualization extensions (3.0.1 only supports Intel VT), and an upgrade to the latest linux version (with xen as a subarch of i386/x86_64 rather than a seperate architecture). The tree is likely to be unstable for a little while as we absorb these changes, though we''d certainly appreciate feedback from users. Thanks for the release Ian. Just one suggestion, the download location at xensource asks for name and email address on which it sends the download information. Can''t it just list the download site/location ? Its not fun filling form for each download request. But I also dislike that solution. Henning _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

We were figuring that most people would only want to download one of the sets of packages, depending on what distro they used. If you''re trying to download all of them I can understand it must be slightly inconvenient. Why not use bittorent? You don''t need to fill in any forms, and it doesn''t cost us $$$ to serve you the bits. How about putting it on sourceforge ? They have lots of bandwidth and several mirrors. So even if xensource is slashdotted, you don''t have to worry about the download problem. Again this is my own suggestion. -- regards, Anand _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel
You might wanna check the downloads on xensource. The rpm download for RHEL 4.1 still sends a mail of 3.0 build. "This download has been built from the Xen 3.0.0 open source community code base. It has undergone very limited testing, is not supported in any way whatsoever, and will be fixed on a best-effort basis only." Haven''t checked the rest. RES: [Xen-users] RE: [Xen-devel] Xen 3.0.1 released!
I use Xen at my lab in college and my university network administrators have filters for Torrent, eMule, Kazaa, ... blocking everything and giving me a lot of headache explaining when such packets hits their firewalls. Is that a good reason? :) BTW, I also hate filling the forms. :| Best Regards -- =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Felipe Franciosi +55-51-91230557 CPAD/HP/PUCRS - Centro de Pesquisa em Alto Desempenho http://www.cpad.pucrs.br/ ozzy@cpad.pucrs.br Porto Alegre, RS - Brazil =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ -----Mensagem original----- De: xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com [mailto:xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com] Em nome de Ian Pratt Enviada em: quarta-feira, 1 de fevereiro de 2006 14:52 Para: Anand Cc: xen-devel@lists.xensource.com; xen-users@lists.xensource.com; ian.pratt@cl.cam.ac.uk Assunto: [Xen-users] RE: [Xen-devel] Xen 3.0.1 released!> Thanks for the release Ian. > > Just one suggestion, the download location at xensource asks > for name and email address on which it sends the download > information. Again this is my own suggestion. We used to use sourceforge, but its actually quite a pain to upload stuff, and it was horribly unreliable (though they may have fixed this). When we released the initial Xen 1.0 demo CD and got slashdotted we brought sourceforge to its knees and got hate mail... We ended up buying a bunch of servers and some serious bandwidth, so we should be able to handle most load spikes, but its good to have the email stuff as a backup --- each demo CD download is 700MB, so you don''t need too many simultaneous downloaders to burn some serious bandwidth! I installed This latest version on RHEL Linux 4.1.
