http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29280 is now fixed, the next release of
wine won't need comctl32 to let ToDoList start up.

You do have a ~/.wine, it's just hidden by default.

If you find a repeatable recipe for that hang, and/or if 'winetricks
msxml3' helps,
let me know so we can file a bug.
