wine users - Nov 2009 - no flex

I dont have internet on my ubuntu 9.10 computer, so i download the tarballs and
burn them to a disk. when i unpack them and try to install them, i get an error
message telling me to install flex. What is this? Why did it happen?
HELP!

That's a bad idea. You should be downloading binary packages (.deb) if you
using ubuntu.

It's a program required to compile Wine. See all required packages here:
http://wiki.winehq.org/Recommended_Packages

thank you vitamin, but I tried that and there was some error the package
installer could not satisfy.

It was something about audio.
