Ubuntu Karmic Koala has added the beta version of Wine to its repositories. With this, many people will try to use the most recent versions of wine and with it, I'm suggesting wine to add a donate button on the about tab in the configurations of wine and with it start a stabilization process to improve user experience.
There is already a "stabilization process", or at least that's what you could call the release plan for 1.2: http://wiki.winehq.org/WineReleaseCriteria

Once fixed the money is taken from the bounty setter(s - there could be more than one person willing to pay for a fix) and given to the project and/or the developer(s) responsible for getting the patches in.Been there - won't work. Lots of bugs aren't resolved not because no one working on them. But because it's very complicated issue, or something that can't be fixed in Wine itself.
