wine users - Oct 2009 - UTF-8 in Wine: Picasa

There are many problems using non-ASCII characters in Wine, such as
gibberish characters instead of Hebrew in Picasa. Is there a known fix
for getting full UTF-8 support in Wine? Thanks.

Wine already fully supports Unicode characters. Make sure you do have fonts
installed with glyphs for your language and that you have locale set properly
(at least LANG) to your language.

In the specific case of Picasa, I cannot type Hebrew at all. Even with
the keyboard set to Hebrew, the English letters of the same key are
inserted onscreen.

Installing fonts into ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts does not seem to help.

Wine doesn't care what your keyboard is set to. What's output of
'locale' looks like?
