I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 and I must say I'm liking linux more and more each day, but I just installed the latest WINE and I can't run COD 4. Does or did anyone else have or had this proble. My Video Card is a Radeon X1950 Series. ----- Initializing Renderer ---- ----- Client Initialization Complete ----- Attempting 44 kHz 16 bit [Windows default] sound ----- R_Init ----- Getting Direct3D 9 interface... Pixel shader version is 2.0 Vertex shader version is 0.0 Video card or driver doesn't support UBYTE4N vertex data. Error during initialization: Video card or driver doesn't support UBYTE4N vertex data.
You installed the latest wine from Ubuntu or the latest wine from Wine? As I recall, this error was fixed with a patch for older versions of wine, but it's one I no longer need in the 1.1x series. I just loaded up CoD4 with stock wine-1.1.31 and it ran fine.
