[Wine] Debian File Server Hangs When Accessed by a Wined Client
Debian file server hangs or freezes every time a visual foxpro (vfp) built exe file located or stored in it is executed from within a local area network consisting of windows (XP) and linux (debian) boxes. If only windows boxes are utilized to access the vfp program, server never fails; but when a linux box joins in and runs the vfp through wine, server hangs or freezes within 1 to 2 hours.

The file or the program in the server is multi-user capable, an Inventory System for instance. Accessing is accomplished via file sharing across the network with a debian-based domain server.

[Wine] Re: Debian File Server Hangs When Accessed by a Wined Client
Server = Debian Etch & A Half - 2.6.24 Clients = Debian Etch & A Half and Puppy and Windows XP Program located in server = Inventory application built using VFP 9 in .exe format. Again, no problem if clients are all XP and simultaneously accessing one and same program in Debian server, but once a linux client joins (be it debian or puppy distro) and accesses the same winapp program via wine, the server would hang after about an hour, and all client connections (including XP) would be lost. If the linux clients join the combo network, but don't access the same winapp, the server will be alright.
