[ANNOUNCE] Lguest64 - fatter puppies!
This is a formal announcement of Lguest64.
Most are aware of the little puppies (lguest32, or simply lguest, or in
some circles "rustyvisor"). But this time the puppies ate a bit too
much. No more lean and mean puppies, now we got big fat lazy ones.
Running on the hardware that's too lazy to do full virutalization. Yes,
lguest now runs on x86_64!
As you know, puppies are young,

Trying to multiboot bartpe & puppy linux on a usb flash with syslinux
...logical=(60, 11, 15)
------------------- unsnip -----------------
I copied over the 5 bartpe files known to work on another flashkey.
I include the bootsector, pe2usb.bin, renamed as pe2usb.bss, planning later
to chain boot with syslinux.
This works as-is and boots into bartpe.
Next I mount the puppy iso and copy over the isolinux setup. Then I change
isolinux.cfg to syslinux.cfg, edit, and add these lines for bartpe
------------- bartpe boot ---------
label bartpe
bss pe2usb.bss
append -
-------------- unsnip -------------
I test in qemu on Centos5 and it now multiboots both OS!
However whe...

[Bug 28095] X crash with PFIFO_CACHE_ERROR. (Nouveau on Riva TNT).
...#15 from Brent <bzipitidoo at hotmail.com> ---
Yes, someone else said that hardware was unusual. But Nouveau did work with
it, at elast somewhat, in the later 2.6 kernels. If it helps at all, the
Diamond Viper V550 video card reports a version of 1.93E during POST.
Tried older versions of Puppy Linux, and ran into other problems. First, the
older Puppy tried to load the saved configuration files from the newer Puppy.
Once I stopped that, I got this. In Xorg.0.log, 5.3.3 Slacko Puppy says:
failed to load kernel module "nouveau"
Puppy falls back to the vesa driver, which, whi...

What is the deference of Puppi, MCollective and ControlTier?
Hi,
I am using puppet as my configuration solution, it is a very good for
system-level configuration management and compliance. But it is not good at
batch jobs. For now, I have three options: puppi, MCollective and
ControlTier. I don''t know much about them. Can anyone give me some advices
that which of them is better at batch jobs.
Thanks

lss broken when upgraded 4.05 to 6.03
Hi,
I have just joined the list.
I am the original creator of Puppy Linux, now letting other guys take
the reins, and I am working on a fork of Puppy called Quirky Linux,
where I try various experimental ideas.
Up until now, in Puppy and all offshoots, we have used syslinux 4.05 or older.
Over the last few days I have been testing 6.03 (using the binary DEBs

Ady,
Thanks very much for the information.
My memory got jogged, and I recalled the Puppy developers trying 5.x
and encountering problems, including the LSS16 one, and deciding to
stay with 4.0x:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=85619&start=30
The reason that I am keen to move up to 6.0x is I want to support UEFI
for Quirky Linux (and to pass on the know how to the Pup...

Hardware suggestion and XEN selection
I got two machines to setup:
A. existing one:
AMD Athlon, 2GB RAM,
C: used for Windows XP (40 G), D: used for Windows data
two partitions, each 40 G are not used yet
I would like to use the two partitions to setup XEN and within XP, SuSE
Linux 10.1, Puppy Linux 1.09CE and Puppy Linux 2.0alpha. SuSE should be
my main window, while XP will be used only if there is no Linux
counterpart, Puppys are used for developments.
Q.:
1. Which distribution should I use for XEN (SuSE 10.1 minimal system
with development?)
I worry, that if no development is in...

Using puppet to redeploy staging app
Hi,
I''m building a staging environement and I would like it to be able to
redeploy automatically, after each commit - or every hour, some
applications. Those applications are right now deployed and set up by
puppet. I wonder if I should use puppet to redeploy those applications after
each commit, and if I should how trigger, on the puppet, a full
redeployement of the application ?

Can WINE help me using Dell Axim from Puppy Linux 511?
Since I'm new to this forum I probably I'm doing something wrong, I'm sorry if this's the case!
I don't have a windows base system, solely Puppy Linux. I do have an Axim, though; can't do hardly anything useful with it since starting using just Linux. Went through many pages about WINE but failed to locate any useful info. That's the reason for posting my issue here.
I've the original cd that came with the Pocket PC &, for t...

How to use a form.check_box ?
Hey guys,
I''m trying to have a simple webform in my administration section to
add a user. I have the text_fields for adding the user''s name,
password, and password confirmation, but cannot seem to figure out the
checkbox. I want it to be a single checkbox, that if clicked, will set
the database column "access" to be "admin" and if its unchecked, set

Swfdec and Ffmpeg only
Hi,
I'm the founder and still very active developer of Puppy Linux, and a
variant named Quirky. Puppy is a cut-down distro, typically 100MB
live-CD. We have always used the Adobe Flash player, though I have
stayed with the Flash 9 player (9.0.48.0) due to its smaller size.
Puppy also has ffmpeg, xine-lib and gxine.
Recently I have been experimenting with S...

Framework question about FormHelper ...
Hello,
I don''t understand how formhelper works (In a Framework point of view) ...
For example if I use the chek_box formhelper
1/ check_box("puppy", "gooddog", {}, "yes", "no") will call @puppy.gooddog
BUT, how it is possible since the check_box has only a string parameters
not instance object ?
2/ if you create your own helper which generate html identically as the
check_box("puppy", "good...

Star Wars Galaxies with wine-0.9.59 (puppy 3.01)
Has anyone had any luck running Star Wars Galaxies with Wine 0.9.59? Also for those not familiar with Puppy it's built on a Slackware 12 foundation. So I start off with just that, the Slackware version of wine. I've also made sure i have all the required and recommended libraries. I have for quite a while had a problem getting gecko installed. but have since downloaded the .cab file to /usr/share...
