Will someone please help me get past this error Code: libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x64 [/code]

Wine might (and will) print lots of errors which you should ignore. What is _the_ problem you are having?
. . . . and this error Code: ALSA lib conf.c:3949:(snd_config_expand) Unknown parameters 0 ALSA lib control.c:909:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL default:0
I am a complete noob. I am trying to run Rosetta Stone, I am using Mandriva, and KDE with Compiz desktop cube and all the effects. Intel graphics card. I have been reading the WINE documentation, but so far have only been able to find error code.

Get your evening coffee. Remember the magic words. It is against freenode rules to archive irc logs. Mailing lists and phpbb posts will be archived, indexed and stored forever. One day you might regret your tone or somebody might link your nick handle to real name and your mother or kids will be horrified. -- Tomas
I am using Mandriva. Will Compiz with 3d effects offer any potential complications? I am having a rancid difficult getting Miro to work because of it. When I run winecfg it has no title bar and I am awarded with the warning Code: libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x64 I have not tryed to Install anything yet. I have been jumping around from trying to get Miro to work, trying to get Virtual box to work, and trying to get WINE to work. I am asking questions on four different forums about five different issues. I just want everything to work. With Miro there is a problem with the X11 interface and the media player (I am not sure which one it uses). When I try and play a video it shuts off. Does WINE have any conflicts with Compiz 3D effects? If so, what are the ways to resolve the conflicts? I have many more questions, and I am not easily offended.

Didn't know that absence of the subject is not a problem for the ML.
battlestarjesus wrote:> I turned off the 3D effects. Now when I run winecfg I have a title bar. There should be a way to have the 3d effects on and it not conflict with WINE.This most likely fixed in newer Wine and/or compiz versions. However don't use those effects, until everything else works for you - test one thing at a time not everything at once. battlestarjesus wrote:> I am using WINE version 0.9.44. I have an Intel 939 video card in a Toshiba Satellite U205-S5002 laptop. This is really old version. Wine releases new versions each two weeks. With each version fixing lots of problems, implementing lots of things. Please upgrade (http://winehq.org/site/download) to the latest (wine-0.9.58) version, remove ~/.wine directory before continuing. Also that video card is not really a best choice for all the 3D stuff. That also might be a reason for incompatibility between Wine and compiz. battlestarjesus wrote:> > I am running winecfg because the documentation indicates that it is a useful configuration feature of WINE, I want to completely understand WINE, and learn to manipulate it in order to port every and any application. Not everything can be done from winecfg. Also in most cases you do not need to change any configuration at all. Of course that doesn't prohibit you from using winecfg. Understand Wine is a tall order no one yet archived. Even Alexandre does not understand entire Wine :D No offense, but take one problem, one program at a time. Don't try to do everything at once. battlestarjesus wrote:> > I have a long way to go. WINE seems rather complicatedIndeed. Not less so as what it tries to implement - windows. battlestarjesus wrote:> > I am in search for a mentor who is willing to guide me through my questions so that I can one day be the mentor for someone else. Where can I find a willing person to do such a thing? No one will dedicate you their entire life. When you have a problem or a question - ask. This forum is a perfect place for this.
