Hi. I'm a math teacher, and I would like to use Geoplan/Geospace under wine (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=4002). Problem is, the (non modal) dialog box behave badly. For example, as explained on the db page, the window can't be selected, no mouse action on it does anything, and worse, the property dialog can't be opened without crashing the app : it can't be closed, and the app refuses to close if any diakog box is still opened. I really need this application to work, for it is quite unique on the market : geometry in space doesn't have many programs as does have plane geometry (geogebra, Cabri...). The previous version of the app (GeospaceW) works OK, the dialogs behave normally. But I don't know if it's fully compatible with the last version. What can be done to enhance the support of this app ? \bye -- Nicolas FRANCOIS | /\ http://nicolas.francois.free.fr | |__| X--/\\ We are the Micro$oft. _\_V Resistance is futile. It is really a great program (tucows 5 star rating and many other awards). Boxer runs on wine but has a few bugs. One of them is when another window (ex:calculator) is opened. If the focus is lost on the daughter window the window disapears and all other mouse clicking functions are disabled on the program. To recover from this I click twice on the KDE upper menu border (the one with minimize, maximize and close commands) to roll the menu (convert the window to just the menu border) and click again to return it to previous state. With this the daughter window appears again and we can recover its focus. Closing the daughter window gives control back to main window (I never know if it is modal or non modal). It appears that the same procedure may be used for Geoplan. Maybe this can be solved for all apps. A demo version of Boxer can be downloaded for testing purposes on the given link. For those who do not know Boxer it is a great opportunity to view it. Personally I use Boxer since its beginning and never found something better. -- Marco Aur?lio

But I don't know if it's fully compatible with the last version. The site mentioned in the appdb, http://www2.cnam.fr/creem/ no longer exists. The new site appears to be http://www.ac-amiens.fr/pedagogie/maths/new/geoplan/index.htm but the zip file there has CRC errors: inflating: GGAvecComplexes/Geoplan.dll bad CRC 38192722 (should be 44897414) ... There seems to be a commercial version, too, with a demo version which can be downloaded from http://crdp.ac-reims.fr/ressources/logiciels/default.htm Annoyingly, you have to download two files there and unzip them, a unified installer would be nicer. Happily (or not, depending on your point of view), the demo reproduces the problem. I've filed a bug for this, http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11372 You can perhaps help by voting for that bug and encouraging other teachers to vote for it. - Dan
