It would not surprise me if there were some regressions in some applications. If you want to see what is happening, you could go to: http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-cvs/2006-November/subject.html And look for the commits authored by Detlef Riekenberg. Probably you want to file a bug, and perhaps go ahead and assign it to Detlef.
Is there anyone on this list that can give an overview of what is happening with the printer driver in WINE ? As of version 9.24 I had functional printing with CUPS but in 9.25 and 9.26 I don't. I'm just wondering if I am not aware of some new steps that I need to do with each new release/compile cycle here. I'm using 2.6.18 kernel and compiling from source.

You don't state which distribution you're using or the symptoms you are seeing. My experience lurking in other groups says a potential responder is likely to want to know those things. On the off chance it might be relevant, I found that with Mandriva 2006 I had to install the libcups2-devel package in addition to just the libcups2 package to get my Wine 0.9.26 (compiled from source) to connect to a printer. (Now, I just need to find the cause and solution to why some of the lines of text look like are in Klingon.) HTH -- Robert Riches spamtrap42@verizon.net (Yes, that is one of my email addresses.)
printing failure in WINE > 0.9.24: no driver found, does list cups printer name in dialog box. with following versions: cups 1.2.4 from slackware 11.0 hplip 1.6.9 compiled from source with snmp support for networked HP2575 printer kernel 2.6.18.3 compiled from source wine versions 0.9.24, 0.9.25, 0.9.26 compiled from source slackware 11.0 distro Sorry for skimping on details. My thoughts were that the solution would be along the lines of the recent fontforge deal. Everyone but me knew you needed a specific program/version for full functionality. I grepped my config & make logs but found no hints. I even looked at the source in what I thought were relevant files looking for comments that might give a clue. I lurk on wine-dev, but I am merely a user, so I hate to make extra noise over there. Hopefully some developers lurk here and can offer clues.
