wine users - Mar 2007 - wine pagemaker cannot import text

Now that I have Pagemaker working to some extent, I have found that I
am unable to import text, either ascii text (.txt) or .rtf or any other
format. 

Hope someone can offer a remedy to overcome this obstacle.
