I need it only to run a few windows applications on my remote linux
server. Do I need some special modifications or can I just download and
install wine the normal (don't know what that is yet but I trust this
is in the documentation) way?

Hi I would like to know if it would be possible for me to install wine
on a dedicated server in a datacenter withou me being to be there
myself (physically). I only have remote acces to fedora linux.

There is no reason why this should not work. Of course, should you want
to use things like winecfg or regedit, you'll have to provide a X11
forwarding.
