You should run wine always as a normal user.> i tried installing winxp from the boot disk onto wine, but it says i > have to be ab admin, but i am on the root account. does anyone know > why?? >I don't know what you're about to do, but if that message comes from the windows program you're trying to install, you can safely ignore it. But you should _definitely not_ run wine as super user! Give us more details, but don't try this as root. Regards, Nick.

I strongly recommend you think that over, it's not the way wine is supposed to work. It's for running/installing windows _applications_. Nick.

Hi, ok, my last two posts were only to stop you from trying what you did try. You should start with http://www.winehq.org/site/about and http://www.winehq.org/site/documentation Wine is a compatibility layer between linux and windows applications, implementing the windows API. Simply put, wine _is_ your windows installation, you cannot install windows on top of it. What your looking for is maybe vmware, win4lin or qemu. Refer to the above links to learn more about wine. Best regards, Nick.
