Application: DWFViewer.exe
Wine 0.9.14 - mandriva 2006.0
This is Autocad's "free" viewer program for dwf files. I had to
install
IE6 first as a pre-requisite. I used the Wine recommended method of
adding that one dll to the windows/system32 directory then ran
ie6setup.exe to install it. The DWFViewer installed fine, but then when
trying to run it this message came up:
This application is requesting an Active X browser object but the
Mozilla ActiveX control is not installed. Do you wish to download and
install it?
I answered by clicking the Yes box then this error occured. I'll try
upgrading Wine to 0.9.16 in a few minutes after all users are finished
running it, then will report back again. But there must be a way to
switch back to IE6 as the default browser to solve this problem. Also
if the Mozilla approach would work, that would be even better :)

I end up with similiar results trying Wine 0.9.16. Is this the type of report which should go to bugs.winehq.com? Also why doesn't google have access to the bugs list on bugs.winehq.com? When I try to google search using: site:bugs.winehq.com mozilla I get no feedback. I'm sure there could be very good reasons not to allow Google to search the bugs, but I don't know them. Perhaps expiry tags could be put in the html code of the messages there so that the messages would expire from the google records over time. I did go a bit further and downloaded an .exe file from the Mozilla Active X project site (which, I believe, is not an 'official' Mozilla site). What do I do with it now? I think at the moment there are no easy instructions for getting IE6 to work once installed. Many old recipes are at http://wiki.jswindle.com/index.php/Internet_Explorer but I don't know if any work anymore. Hopefully Wine's full builtin IE6 emulation will arrive someday soon...
