Hi There, i?m trying to controll PTZ-Cams trough Suse Linux 9.3. i have 2 Cams - a Sony D31 and a Canon VC-C1. So both where shipped with controlsoftware (Windows). The Software from Sony had no problem - i can control all i want .. Zoom Pan Tilt .. etc. Next i tried to connect the Canon Cam .. and after starting the software, it return a "Error initalizing COM1" A #WINEDEBUG=-debugmsg,+comm wine c:\\programme\\Vcc1.exe shows this: trace:comm:BuildCommDCB16 (COM1), ptr 0x403fbafe trace:comm:BuildCommDCBAndTimeoutsA (COM1,0x41a845e0,(nil)) trace:comm:BuildCommDCBAndTimeoutsW (L"COM1",0x41a845e0,(nil)) warn:comm:BuildCommDCBAndTimeoutsW Invalid device control string: L"COM1" so i (Unixnoob and windowsAdmin) dont know where the L comes ? is this the error? I use # wine --version Wine 0.9.13 thanks for helping :) mic

If no, did you check permissions on COM1?> warn:comm:BuildCommDCBAndTimeoutsW Invalid device control string: > L"COM1" > > so i (Unixnoob and windowsAdmin) dont know where the L comes ? is this > the error?AFAIK, the L simply is a type specifier. Daniel
ok .. L is not the problem *g* thanks for that permission on ttys0 is for errorsearching on 777. Could it be that the Canon Software access direkt to Com1 and the Sony trough a Windowsfunktion? I have no idea why the second Software (Canon) couldn?t access com1. For your Information. I have tried first the Sonycam @ com1, then i tried the canon @ com1. Never both at same time. sorry my poor english ;) mic Daniel Skorka wrote:> mic <cimar@hotmail.com> wrote: > > So both where shipped with controlsoftware (Windows). mic <cimar@hotmail.com> wrote:> permission on ttys0 is for errorsearching on 777.I guess you man ttyS0?> Could it be that the Canon Software access direkt to Com1 and the Sony > trough a Windowsfunktion? There recently was thread concerning a mapping software that had problems with the way it accessed the serial port. If you can find it, inside is a mention which debug channnels wine uses for this. hola, i took a look in /dev/ .. com1 is ttys0 (not S) ?? i have tried another software .. devserv and camclient ... both on the self machine works perfekt .. i can control all funktion of the canon VC-C1 - for the Sony i have found Zoneminder with integrated VISCA-Protocoll- works also perfect. i think the origin Software from Canon access direktly to UART16550. thanks for your help ;)
