postal 2: something for the bronze list?
hi there for those of you that don't know, postal 2 is a "psycho 3d shooter" using the unreal2 engine. for a long time i was not able to get it running until i noticed that there was an opengl frontend availible for it. postal 2 is really running great in opengl mode, i only had a few minor issues in getting it running: 1: the installer appears to use winrar for unpacking the data files, but winrar did not work as it should be on my system so i had to copy the installation from windows. 2: i had to download the opengl frontend from http://www.gopostal.com/support/postal2/opengl.htm ( make sure to use one resolution for both the scissors intro, the menu and the game, this can be edited in Postal2.ini ) 3. i had to minimize the KDE Kicker because it stayed on top of wine. after this the game is running almost perfect. i get a zillion of these warnings, be they do not appear to harm the game: fixme:imm:ImmAssociateContext (0x10026, 0x68036828): semi-stub fixme:imm:ImmGetDefaultIMEWnd (0x10026): semi-stub fixme:imm:ImmGetContext (0x10026): stub but the game was fully playeble to the end. i tested it on an AMD XP2200 with 512MB memory and a Geforce4 Ti 4200 128MB ) hope this is usefull to someone, happy shooting everybody!
