wine users - Aug 2002 - MS Office 2000 Small Business instalation problem

Hello. 

	I'm trying to install MS Office 2000 Small Bussiness (Polish version) with 
latest CVS wine. First I get a small message box that tells me, that my 
Windows Installator is being upgraded, then I get an error message, that 
could be roughly translated as:

	"Windows system Installer in this system has been upgraded. You have to 
restart system to finish this upgrade (actualization? - D.W.). After reboot, 
please start installer again to cotninue instalation of MS Office 2000 Small 
Busines." 

	This is constant behavior. Restarting to Windows and then Windows doesn't 
help. Restarting Linux doesn't help. Praying doesn't help. :))
	Sorry that I ask here, but I don't know how to translate this message that
I
could look for it with google.
	I would be grateful for any pointers.

OK. I've found it. PPL with my thinking shouldn't ever touch computers.

As you have windows, why don't you just install it from windows, and
then run it from wine?

If you have it, try installing a diffrent version of office (Possibly
US), so thet we can know if it's a problem related to the polish version
of office, or if it's a general problem

what file does it say is missing?
Try this (Considering your target pc), download winesetuptk from 
http://spazioinwind.libero.it/nonsolomicrosoft/wineen.html
and make a fake windows installation, (Winesetuptk will probably detect
your win installation, but you can force it to create a fake win
installation) backup you config file first, then tell it to overwrite
the .wine dir in your home, it will create a fake win registry, thit
could solve the problem.

Try installing office in windows, and see if it works (It could be a
corrupted cd).

I did not see the original message, but this is probably caused by
hidden files on the Office CD that linux by default hides from you.
Mount with the unhide option, for example "mount -o unhide /dec/cdrom"
or put it in your fstab.

Try installing a different version of office, from a cd, try the version
you are trying to install from cd, if nothing of this helps, you should
really open a bug about this.

Try in installing DCOM95 or 98 and try installing office again, if it
dosen't work, open a bug on bugzilla.
