Hello list reader, Did people succed in trying to run Delphi applications with wine ??? Well, if they didn't work we can always try to use kylix to get them work. But I suspect that we will have to go with lot of rewriting because of the type of these applications : graphical intensive ones. Any ideas about that ? Thanks ! Guy

I remember debugging Wine bugs in otherwise working well applications written with Delphi. If you have problems with Delphi applications - proceed as usual with Wine issues. Guy, I tried Borland C++ Builder quite a while back and wasn't. Gerard Patel (I first ran into/interacted with him on Borland's Newsgroups) helped me out some and has reported being able to run practically all the Borland C++ Builder examples, especially the 'Swat' example which is one of his favorites from what I gather. I haven't tried it recently and not with Delphi or Delphi apps, but I'm sure it's possible since there was such sucess with Borland C++ Builder. Besides. Did you konw that Kylix's IDE (at least for v1 don't know about v2) was ported, and when run 'kicked-off' WINE? GB wrote:> > Hello list reader, > > Did people succed in trying to run Delphi applications with wine ???Yes, I do it all the time. My laptop has both the full wine cvs and win4lin installed. I run Delphi 4 under win4lin. I can then write my software using delphi, compile it up, switch virtual windows and run it under wine to test it. All my software is now tested under win4lin and wine. There have been some subtle wine bugs to work around but over time they have all been fixed. The only problem I still have related to using wine with no window manager and focus with child windows. Still looking into that one. Wine's tcp and timer behaviour is much quicker and friendlier than windows :p) -- Brad.... /"\ Save the Forests \ / ASCII RIBBON CAMPAIGN Burn a Greenie.
