Help creating a shortcut in wine
Can anyone help me with how to create a windows shortcut in wine? I want to create windows shortcuts on a Linux box that windows clients can then access. I'm trying to use wine to allow me to create the shortcut on the Linux box. I'm using the wine-0.9.31 version of wine on Fedora Core 5. I've tried two approaches, both fail. I've tried using an autohotkey script. This script runs...

Persistent desktop icons ?
Hi, Is it possible to configure persistent desktop icons, e. g. shortcuts that users can't delete ? On most of my client desktops, I have some home-made shortcuts, like here for example : http://www.microlinux.fr/configurations.html The shortcut on the lower left corner of the screen launches the public library management system. Most of the users are quite com...

Unable to map more than 4 workspaces to keyboard shortcuts on C7.
Hi, I have a new install of c7 with the gnome desktop. I run it with 12 workspaces. Normally I create the shortcuts so that ctrl+f1 maps to workspace 1 ctrl+f2 maps to f2, etc. When I goto applications -> settings -> keyboard -> shortcuts -> navigation, I only have the ability to define "Switch to workspace" 1 through 4. There does not appear to be a way to map keyboard shortcuts for &quot...

Difference between samba 2.0.0beta4 and NT4.0 ?
Hi Samba-gurus, I have a problem with samba 2.0.0beta4 on solaris 2.5.1 (samba 1.9.18p10 behaves the same) : 1. I have a ordinary text-file on a samba-share (foo.txt). NT4.0 sees the samba-share (\\sun100\tmp) as a netdrive with the letter K:. I've done a 'net use k: \\sun100\tmp'. 2. I can doubleclick in NT4.0-explorer on foo.txt and notepad comes up correctly. 3. I

Strange problem with icons!
Check out these MSKB articles. They describe how shortcuts are resolved. In particular, the last one describes the process required to "fix" this behaviour. I had a LOT of trouble when I first set up my LAN because people had a nasty habit of sharing drive C (even I used to do this until I discovered that this is a Bad Idea). The main problem...

Set working directory by dragging text file onto R shortcut? [WinXP, unfortunately]
Hi R-helpers, I must use WinXP at work, and I'm missing a particular feature that's available in R on my Mac at home... In WinXP I would like to launch R by dragging and releasing a text file on top of the R shortcut on my desktop. Then, I would like the working directory to be automatically set to the location of that text file. That's what works in MacOS, but I can't figure

"Shortcut" for creating a software RAID 60?
Hello all, Testing stuff virtually over here before taking it to the physical servers. I found a shortcut for creating a software RAID 10 ("--level=10"), device in CentOS 6. Looking at the below, I don't see anything about a shortcut for RAID 60. https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/htm l/Storage_Administration_Guide/s1-raid-levels.html Is RAID

Weirdness
NT 4.0 workstation users are complaining that all of their drive letters are getting used up by what appears to be a rampant network-drive mapping situation. For example, normally I have three shares network-mapped. Lately, ceetain people are complaining that one of their shares get's remapped a number of times to take up all the drive letters (except drive letter Z). So suddenly they
