Hi all dudes. We're organizing a petition to ask Creative to include Ogg Vorbis support in one of their next firmware releases of their digital players. This is very important for two reasons: 1) Creative is a big company. If they include Ogg support in their digital players, other manufacturers will follow the example. 2) This should improve use experience of this class of products for those users who are not Windows addict. Consider that supporting a new standard is a slow process, so we have to ask NOW. After all, if you consider OGG a good audio format, if it influences greatly your purchasing decisions, even if don't own a Creative digital player, please, SIGN the petition NOW!!!! You can sign here: http://www.petitiononline.com/oggpet/petition.html Many thanks to all. Bah, so I try to sign the petition, and have my own unique number of 84, and when I click to sign it, I get: It appears as though your signature does not originate from PetitionOnline. Please go to the petition page and submit your signature again. Then I go to the petition page and someone else got 84 :( I wanna sign! Maybe I'll get 85 or something...what'd I do wrong though? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Renato Perini" <rperini@email.it> To: <vorbis@xiph.org> Sent: Sunday, January 18, 2004 5:17 PM Subject: [vorbis] Ogg Vorbis in Creative products petition <p>> Hi all dudes.> We're organizing a petition to ask Creative to include Ogg Vorbis > support in one of their next firmware releases of their > digital players. I think if you want to get Creative to take Ogg Vorbis seriously, you should try to make the petition as formal as possible. Maybe you could put a note on the website to encourage users to post their full name, rather than just their first name or a nickname. A few more points: 1. I believe Ogg should always be written exactly that way, not OGG. 2. OGG by itself isn't an audio format, I think you should always write "Ogg Vorbis". 3. The sentence "OGG support for Creative Digital Players in next firmware release" isn't perfect. "Include Ogg Vorbis support in Creative digital audio players in the next firmware release". Would be clearer. Even then, expecting Creative to implement Vorbis support by the next firmware release is probably unrealistic. Maybe it should be lessened to "future firmware releases". Just thoughts. Hope they aren't usless to you. - Andrew --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body.
