some weird filename related error
...d to encode to Ogg q3.5 using Peter P's vorbis output plugin. same error occured.
next, i tried doing the same with OggDropXPd 1.6 beta 13, same error again.
only way to make it work with that file name was to cut off everything past the "001_" (added to the filename by wa2.81 after diskwriting), then used OggDrop- it worked.

Basic point- does ogg vorbis encoders have a problem with lengthy filenames?

Winamp plug-in
When using Winamp's diskwriter with the ogg plug-in v1.13 the
resulting wav files are only named 01, 02, etc. So the original names
are lost. I hope Peter can fix this.

reading heterogeneous CSV
Greetings, all.
I've got a datafile I've been working with that has an ideosyncratic,
heterogeneous format. It's grossly like:
[...]
DISKREAD,metadata about disks
MEM,metadata about memory
ZZZZ,observation-identifier,time,date
DISKREAD,observation-identifier,data about disks
MEM,observation-identifier,data about memory
[ and repeat for each observation ]

bassrumble, take two
Hi,
maybe this is of interest for someone out there. I found that taking the
difference between an original sample and its decoded Vorbis counterpart
is a cool way to mangle sounds (especially voice samples get a nice
weird touch :] ).
A side effect is that the result is not only exactly what information
the encoder omits, it also contains things that it adds to the sample
(artifacts). Leaving

Encoding or Playback problem?
Hi all,
Have trouble encoding / playing back OGG using WinAmp + plugin. I encoded
the files from .WAV with Ogg drop RC2. Seems to be ok. When I try and play
them back though I get very very weird sound effects (some kind of
"wobbling", some bass frequencies that are usually in the background seem to
get more emphasised and they seem to have some kind of strange echo / reverb
to it

smbclient transfer speed on solaris
Hi,
I am trying to transfer data from a win2003 (OS=[Windows Server 2003
3790 Service Pack 2] Server=[Windows Server 2003 5.2]) to a solaris 10
(sun4v arch). smbclient version is 3.0.25a.
Although this is a switched gigabit network (no firewalls/routers
inbetween), and even jumbo frames are set up on the relevant NICs on
both sides, I cannot transfer more than 35mbyte/s (40 peak) with

rc2 channel coupling
Try this: make encoder invert polarity of right (or left) channel on input
and listen to output files (at about 128 kbps). I know that I am being
nasty, but some software uses this kind of trick to produce 'surround'-like
effects; this stuff causes channel coupling to puke (works fine with RC2
when channel coupling is disabled, tried with my Winamp output plugin which
has an option to do

some EAQUAL results
For those who are interested, I've run 3 EAQUAL tests on both the LAME and
OGG encoders: LAME with the --alt-standard preset (with and without
--nspsytune) and OGGENC (RC3) with -q 6 (my personal "sweet spot")
I am somewhat unsure though about the validity of these tests, since the
original and decoded files were not the same size (2 KB difference). The LAME
encoded files were also

CDex and Flac
I am using CDex to encode my music into Flac. I am using the latest
version of Flac (with the frontend etc.) and sending the rips to it as
an 'external encoder' with the string:
-8 -o %2 -T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "album=%b" -T "date=%y" -T
"tracknumber=%tn" -T "genre=%g" -
However, I am getting the below output/error with
