some weird filename related error
...id Morales and Albert Cabrera present Moca feat Deanna - Higher (Mo and Al's Original Mix) ~~~~ first time error (refusing to encode the track) occured, i was encoding from CD to q3.5. tried a couple times, on on-the-fly & not on-the-fly mode. next, i encoded to .WAV using winamps (wa2.8) diskwriter. I then attempted to encode to Ogg q3.5 using Peter P's vorbis output plugin. same error occured. next, i tried doing the same with OggDropXPd 1.6 beta 13, same error again. only way to make it work with that file name was to cut off everything past the "001_" (added to the filen...

Winamp plug-in
When using Winamp's diskwriter with the ogg plug-in v1.13 the resulting wav files are only named 01, 02, etc. So the original names are lost. I hope Peter can fix this. reading heterogeneous CSV
...csv the output sides of the FIFOs. But I have problems right out of the gate: when I set a data.frame element to the output of fifo(), what actually gets inserted seems to be an integer; I am guessing it's being turned into a factor. example: ---- desired_slices=c("ZZZZ","DISKWRITE") temps = data.frame(slice=desired_slices,row.names=1,handle=I("")) temps["ZZZZ",] = fifo("./ZZZZ",open="w+") showConnections() ( you can see that the connection is open) temps ( you can see that the contents of the data.frame cell is the fil...

bassrumble, take two
...groups/kolabore/ogg/ . It contains a single .WAV file. You can make those difference-samples yourself pretty easy, too. All you need is a wave editor that supports inverting and mixing two samples plus some tool to decode your .ogg back to .wav. For my experiments, I used CoolEdit and Winamp's diskwriter. Either the original .wav or the decoded .ogg have to be "inverted", which means that the sample is flipped at the x-axis. (Flipping it at the y-axis would make the sample play backwards.) For example, if a sample in the whole clip has the value +10000 (for signed 16bit samples), this...

Encoding or Playback problem?
Hi all, Have trouble encoding / playing back OGG using WinAmp + plugin. I encoded the files from .WAV with Ogg drop RC2. Seems to be ok. When I try and play them back though I get very very weird sound effects (some kind of "wobbling", some bass frequencies that are usually in the background seem to get more emphasised and they seem to have some kind of strange echo / reverb to it

smbclient transfer speed on solaris
...rs inbetween), and even jumbo frames are set up on the relevant NICs on both sides, I cannot transfer more than 35mbyte/s (40 peak) with smbclient. The command line is: smbclient //<TARGET_IP>/<sharename> -I <TARGET_IP> -A <auth_file> -c'prompt; ls ; mget *;' The diskwrites on the solaris box cannot be the bottleneck, tested it, can write way more. I was wondering if anyone had an advice regarding performance tuning? According to our win-admins they can provide easily 60mbyte/s between their windows servers. my smb.conf is pretty basic: root@asp1dbrac012:~# e...

rc2 channel coupling
Try this: make encoder invert polarity of right (or left) channel on input and listen to output files (at about 128 kbps). I know that I am being nasty, but some software uses this kind of trick to produce 'surround'-like effects; this stuff causes channel coupling to puke (works fine with RC2 when channel coupling is disabled, tried with my Winamp output plugin which has an option to do

CDex and Flac
I am using CDex to encode my music into Flac. I am using the latest version of Flac (with the frontend etc.) and sending the rips to it as an 'external encoder' with the string: -8 -o %2 -T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "album=%b" -T "date=%y" -T "tracknumber=%tn" -T "genre=%g" - However, I am getting the below output/error with
