Greetings, With all the press concerning the 'almost 1.0' release of vorbis; I see a lot of messages floating around as 'now 1.0, and -soon- it will include joint-stereo, Wavelets, low-bitrate, peeling, etc. etc.' Before I start 'advocating' vorbis and tell everybody what it all can do; is there actually a date or some other planning when all those already-in-the-format-but-not-yet-implemented features will be there. I don't want to end up with a situation saying 'yes; it now can do stereo; but the next version will have joint-stereo and allow a current 128 Kbps stream to be put into a 80 Kpbs stream'; when that 'next version' is not due for more then a year. I've never liked 'vaporware'; and -hence- I don't want to advocate it myself. ;-) Cheerio! Kr. So it's at least not vapourware for him. Hey Monty, any chance of checking in alpha code for us to beat on? You know, set up something for all those RC1 decoders out there to have a play on to advertise encoder 1.0 (or perhaps just to give us fanatics something to play with)? Hopefully an rc1 ofthese three will be out in July. Bitrate peeling tools will not appear until after a 1.0 release.> I don't want to end up with a situation saying 'yes; it now can do > stereo; but the next version will have joint-stereo and allow a current > 128 Kbps stream to be put into a 80 Kpbs stream'; when that 'next version' > is not due for more then a year.July is the target, but no promises; we're taking the deadline seriously, but the unforseen is always lurking in the background.
