[syslinux] How to set a portrait mode screen using i915 driver?
I am trying to setup a portrait mode screen. I can see that in 3.85, there is an enhancement which allows arbitrary resolutions (http://git.kernel.org/?p=boot/syslinux/syslinux.git;a=commitdiff;h=5d4ade0221c2387345d0a82422866bb8b937cb09). Can I use this new feature to achieve setting the portrait mode. What is the syntax in the config file to set it? Also, is there any other vesa driver dependencies? Thanks, SR

The arbitrary resolution can, however, support horizontally scanned portrait mode, e.g. "MENU RESOLUTION 480 640". -hpa

Yes, I only need horizontally scanned portrait mode. Somehow "MENU RESOLUTION" does not work for me. Below is my isolinux.cfg file. Anything wrong with it? ------------------------------------ default vesamenu.c32 timeout 2 *MENU RESOLUTION 480 640* menu background boot.png menu title boot VER menu color border 0 #ffffffff #00000000 menu color sel 7 #ffffff00 #ff000000 menu color title 0 #ffffffff #00000000 menu color tabmsg 0 #ffffffff #00000000 menu color unsel 0 #ffffffff #00000000 menu color hotsel 0 #ffffff00 #ff000000 menu color hotkey 7 #ffffff00 #00000000 label live menu label Live CD - ^Run kernel /kernel append initrd=/initrd.img CMDLINE quiet SRC= DATA= SDCARD On 05/04/2010 01:05 AM, SCU Rock wrote:> I am trying to setup a portrait mode screen. Looks like "MENU RESOLUTION" only changes the screen size/resolution for the menu, but not the graphic image loaded afterward. How can I make the graphic image loaded to be in portrait mode? [syslinux] How to set a portrait mode screen using i915 driver?
Sorry if I did not state my question properly. By referring to graphic image, I meant to say a disk linux image that would be loaded by the Live CD isolinux.cfg file. How can I use i915 feature to load the disk image so that it boots off a portrait display in portrait mode? The motivation is to run linux on tablets that can be turned into portrait mode. I think by using i915 feature, I maybe achieve this.
