[syslinux] PXE Booting linux on a Dell Poweredge SC1435
Hi, I'm trying to boot via TFTP using PXE, and it gets an IP, and "TFTP ." flashes before disappearing, and the machine hangs. This TFTP server and DHCP setup is known to work with many other machines. Can anyone help me debug this problem? What can I do to make the pxe output more verbose? -- Regards, Etienne Le Sueur Research Assistant - Gelato @ UNSW

Could you give the 3.74-pre11 a try ? Could you show your configuration file ? Does your bios is up to date ?

[syslinux] PXE Booting linux on a Dell Poweredge SC1435
Hi Ian, Thanks for your input - I updated to the latest BIOS before I sent mail to the list. I will check the RAM, but I have my doubts. I just wish there was a way to get PXE to spit out some more verbose information about what it's actually doing. -- Etienne Ian McDonald wrote:> Etienne Le Sueur wrote: >> Hi, >> >> I'm trying to boot via TFTP using PXE, and it gets an IP, and "TFTP >> ." flashes before disappearing, and the machine hangs. >> >> This TFTP server and DHCP setup is known to work with many other >> machines. >> >> Can anyone help me debug this problem? >> >> What can I do to make the pxe output more verbose? >> > > I know this might sound stupid, but have you run memtest86+ on the > box/got the very latest bios/firmwares for it on it? > > I've been using pxelinux since 2002, and barring ancient/cr*p firmware > on network cards, the last time I spent any significant time debugging > something like this, I ended at bad ram. > > Regards >
