[syslinux] looking for info using memdisk to load an image via pxe
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi again...> i have a computer with pxe support. > so far, i can load a .img from a cdrom using memdisk. > now, i would like to try to get the .img from the network. There is no problem to that: Simply configure PXELINUX accordingly. We at some time did the same using Memdisk and a 250Mb disk image... (lots of dots, but it worked) The only thing to say is that the file gets transferred via TFTP this way. I don't know how badly tftp can behave...> entire PXE stack, including the UNDI driver, still resident in memory" > > i cannot find more info on the website or on the internet at large. > has anybody done this. can you share a few details. That I didn't do, but I do know about a 3com universal Undi Ndis driver. I don't think that it is freely available (but since it seems to be discontinued, you might get a hold of it somewhere) That one can be used together with LanManger- or MS-Client to "mount" a SMB Network-share. Performance will rather be bad, and as I said, I never tried to get the driver or even get it to work... I'd say that transferring the Image via TFTP (done automatically by PXELINUX) is the easiest approach.> also, please keep in mind that i am booting mswindows98 via memdisk. What Memdisk image you boot doesn't matter. If you use Memdisk and <some working image> it should work. If it doesn't then this is your place to ask... bye Christian -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQE+0wdg2gF1h3CVOsMRAib0AJkBT4vS49pQsfOdV32ZQ/WP9KbYlACgn7y8 uJxNwfCqobdBi+NK/GMSWFs=3TEA -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
