Conflict Between R and multimedia repositories
Dear All, I have just installed a fresh Debian testing (squeeze) on my system (amd64 architecture). I am experiencing some really strange problems in updating my system whenever I have both the R repository and the multimedia repository available. This is my source.list (when I disable the multimedia repository) ~$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list deb http://ftp.ch.debian.org/debian/ testing main

Problems with Wine on Debian
Hello all, I am fairly new to Linux, so I hope that the following problem is not just me being ... new to Linux. I have been trying to install Wine on Debian (Etch 4.09 I think it is called). I first tried to use the apt-get install Wine command followed by the winecfg (creating the .wine folder), but when I tried to run the notepad.exe (i.e. with the command wine

Trying to upgrade from R 2.7.1
[Running debian stable] I followed the instructions at http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian, adding deb http://cran.R-project.org/bin/linux/debian lenny-cran/ to /etc/apt/sources.list. But apt-get still leaves me with R 2.7.1. How can I diagnose what's wrong or correct this? euclid: /etc/apt # apt-get update Hit http://debian.yorku.ca stable Release.gpg Ign http://debian.yorku.ca

apt-get update: GPG error from cran.R-project.org
I recently was forced to do a dist-upgrade and rebuild my kernel, so a lot has changed on my system, and I don't know if that is related to the errors & warnings I get from apt-get update. Any ideas? thanks -Michael euclid:~# apt-get update Get: 1 http://debian.yorku.ca stable Release.gpg [378B] Get: 2 http://debian.yorku.ca stable/updates Release.gpg [189B] Get: 3

Problem Updating from 2.71 to 2.8 in Ubuntu
Hello, I have recently installed Ubuntu (8.10) Intrepid Ibex and I am trying to get R version 2.8. I have changed my /etc/apt/sources.list file to include a mirror. I have also added the Vincent Goulet key. However, whenever I run sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install r-base it installs version 2.71. Help for sources.list
Greetings! I would be very grateful if someone could supply a suitable line to enter into /etc/apt/sources.list for the benefit of a complete dummy user (i.e. me -- I do not want to have to do any interpretation, guesswork, reading of docs, etc.; I want to just copy it in). The machine in question is an Intel laptop, wuth Debian Lenny (according to the Debian website the current stable version as

Skip based on checksum not worked as expected when using with complex filter rules.

Skip based on checksum not worked as expected when using with complex filter rules.
Hi all, I've a local repository for Debian, and I'm doing some rsync testings on it. See the following commands for detail: werner at debian:~/software/LocalRepo$ rsync -amvHKLPRSB131072 -n \ ftp.uk.debian.org::debian/./dists/wheezy-updates/main/\ debian-installer/binary-amd64/Packages.gz \ repo.debian.local/debian/ [snip]

Cannot update xiph repository
Hi, I apologise for the naiveness of this question, but I experienced an error when running apt-get update on Debian 9. It’s telling me that it can’t update the xiph repository. Not sure if I should be asking for help about this here, but if not… please let me know where I should take this issue. Any help is appreciated. Don't know why; i probably missed something. #### May be you should add in your mail the file : /etc/apt/sources.list (I suppose there might be a typo, as IT addresses are long and booring, and AFAIK, correcting a typo one made is **very** difficult). Re : Install latest R version from apt on Lenny
OK, thanks both. I'll try that. I suspect (very strongly) that it comes from the fact that I did not replace the cran mirror line by an actulal cran mirror URLs... I will give a look at all my backports this weekend and do a little cleaning too! thanks,   David Biau.   ################################# From: Johannes Ranke <jranke@uni-bremen.de> To: r-sig-debian@r-project.org
