boxplot() from list
I have a list containing 48 objects (each with 30 rows and 4 columns, all numeric), and wish to produce 4 boxplot series (with 48 plots in each) , one for each column of each object. Basically I want a boxplot from boxplot(mylist[[]][,i]) for i in 1:4. It seems that I can create a boxplot of length 48 from the entire list, but I don't seem able to subscript to return 4 boxplots from the list

imap indexing error when moving multiple mails
Hi, I've got an 'interesting' problem with a dovecot 0.99.10.4 setup on NetBSD/i386 1.6ZK. dovecot is serving imap only at the moment, using mbox format mailboxes. '/etc/dovecot.conf' is pretty vanilla - among the modified settings, mail_read_mmaped = yes maildir_check_content_changes = yes mbox_lock = fcntl could be relevant. Anyway - from time to time when I move a

Linux, UNIX, XP32, Vista X64 or ...? [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Dear All, I am currently using R in Windows PC with a 2 GB of RAM. Some pretty large datasets are expected soon, perhaps in an order of several GB. I am facing a similar situation like Ralph, either to get a new PC with a bigger RAM or else. I am just wondering if R is getting faster in other systems like UNIX or Linux. Any suggestions are appreciated. Regards, Jin

3.0.1pre3 -> 3.0.1rc1: doesn't want to connect to itself
Hello With smb.conf below, samba 3.0.1pre3 is capable of connecting to itself by smbclient -L oberon <empty_password>. Also domain logons work. With 3.0.1rc1 it just writes bash-2.05b# smbclient -L oberon Password:<empty> tree connect failed: Call returned zero bytes (EOF) bash-2.05b# smbclient --version Version 3.0.1rc1 bash-2.05b# smbd --version Version 3.0.1rc1 bash-2.05b# which

Problems with XP32-"3GB-patch"?/ Worth upgrading to Vista X64?
Dear R-Users, as I will start a huge simulation in a few weeks, I am about to buy a new and fast PC. I have noticed, that the RAM has been the limiting factor in many of my calculations up to now (I had 2 GB in my "old" system, but Windows still used quite a lot of virtual memory), hence my new computer will have 4 GB of fast DDR2-800 RAM. However, I know that 1.) Windows 32 bit cannot

IAX2, DTMF and x86_64.
Hi all, I'm just starting to play with 1.4. I installed 1.4.1 on an Ia32 machine, and can't find any problems. So, I decided to upgrade my home pbx. All went well until I tried using my S101 to talk to the IVR. Some times, the first one or two digits get through, but eventually a digit will get stuck, playing continuously until the call is terminated. I have confirmed this

Modula Generators
Hi all, Is there function on R for calculating Modula generators? For example for primes above 100, e.g 157, i want to know which number generates the group under multiplication mod 157. i.e i want to find an element whose order is 156. The problem I occur is that modular arithmetic becomes inaccurate when dealing with large numbers. Thanks for any help given. Sam [[alternative HTML

heimdal and mit incompatability when using GSSAPI
My college is kerberized, and so in many situations authentication is both faster and more secure using kerberos tickets. Sadly I have run into a problem. The Heimdal included in FreeBSD seems to be incompatible with my school's servers running MIT kerberos when authenticating over gssapi. For example ssh in verbose mode returns: debug2: we sent a gssapi-with-mic packet, wait for reply

Documentation bug? domadm privileges
Hello I have been solving a problem how to make a nonroot user able to administer the domain (add users, groups, modify them etc.) from Windows workstation using usrmgr.exe It looks like what is stated in Samba HOWTO collection as prerequisites is not enough. First I found Chapter 12 cxl "How to make Samba PDC users member of the Domain Admins group" - made the nonroot user member of

Your help needed: List of LLVM Open Projects 2017
Hi folks, Happy new year! Last LLVM Developers' Meeting I had a BoF: 'Raising Next Generation LLVM Developers'. It was suggested that we should update our open projects page and possibly restructure it a little bit. I volunteered to do this work and I need your help. Chandler and I started working on a google doc [1]. We pinged few code owners asking them to list of

[LLVMdev] More kinds of recursive types in llvm
The language I am working on connecting to an llvm back-end (Modula-3) allows a fairly extensive set of recursive declarations. It looks like I can translate all its high-level types using four llvm types that refer to another type: function, struct, pointer, and array. It looks like I can alter an llvm struct type in place after it has been created, using StructType::setBody. I don't see a

Prelim results: hpnssh v ssh in local area networks
The results, for anyone interested, can be found here http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/hpn-ssh/results.html Long story short, there doesn't seem to be any notable difference between the two anymore. I still have a few more test combinations to run (<.5ms rtts and against cygwin) so the conclusions might change but, at this point, I'm no longer seeing any sort of performance

swap control
Is it possible to use sync to vblank / swap control with mesa/gallium (and nouveau) ? I googled it but did not find any clear answers about how it is supposed to be enabled. I also tried to read the code, and I am getting lost. So I didn't find any answers to any of these questions : 1) how are we supposed to enable it ? is there an env var , or ~/.drirc ? is drirc/driconf still valid with
