Conflict between xtable and Hmisc when using Sweave?

Latex error with Sweave example

Newbie help with Sweave
I think I've gotten my Emacs/Sweave/R system set up correctly, thanks to Vincent and Jim, but I haven't been successful getting my first document produced. I'm trying to use one of Friedrich Leisch's examples, http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~leisch/Sweave/example-1.Snw. I cut and pasted the text into a document sweaveexample.Rnw in Emacs. interrupting Sweave leaves open sink connection
Hello, if I interrupt Sweave while it's processing a file it seemingly leaves an open sink connection that hides printed output. Can this be changed to reset the sink on exit? I've been baffled by this for years. This is seen in Windows (R Under development (unstable) (2013-10-20 r64082)) and an older Linux (R version 3.0.0 (2013-04-03)). issues with Sweave and inclusion of graphics in a document

Problems with Sweave and pdf.options(encoding="ISOLatin7") (PR#13234)
Hi, Sweave for some reason does not respect encoding setting in pdf.options. Everything is OK with ps.options. Thus when using non-default encoding for graphs, resulting graphics eps file is correct, but pdf file is not. Workaround is very simple, just use latex->dvips->ps2pdf chain to get the intended pdf document. I tried to find the explanation for this, but I did not find anything. If

Does Sweave run in the global environment ?
