Patch proposal for R style consistency (concerning deparse.c)
Hello, everybody.
I recognize I'm asking you to deal with a not-very-important problem.
But its important to me :)
I've noticed a little inconsistency in the print.function() output. I
traced the matter to deparse.c, for which I attach a patch that
addresses 3 separate things. There's one important thing that I'm
willing to stand behind and 2 litter things that I think would be

problem with function "Truncate" in package "distr"
Hello all,
Can someone tell me why the following mixture of two log-normal
distributions does not get truncated? What puzzles me is that the
function works almost always, but for certain combinations (like the
one below), it does not.
# R code example
library(distr)
mix<-UnivarMixingDistribution(Lnorm(3.2,0.5),Lnorm(5.4,0.6),mixCoeff=c(0.3,0.7))

prob./distr./quant./ran.num: S compatibility in argument names??
Several of R's p/d/q/r (probability/density/quantile/random.number)
functions have argument names different from the ones S(-plus) uses
[e.g., pf(.), rbinom(.)].
Does everyone agree that we want to become compatible here?
Any volunteer for changing this in R?
If you do,
please give us/me a not, and
please get a current snapshot of the R development version from

To start, we want to thank the contributors of comments and suggestions,
which have been quite helpful to us.
Also, we want to apologize for being somewhat lengthy in our replies;
we hope you could cope

New package: distr
We would like to announce the availability on CRAN of a new package distr .
It is to provide a conceptual treatment of random variables (r.v.'s) by
means of
S4--classes. A virtual mother class "Distribution" is introduced.
All distributions of the "base" package are implemented as subclasses of
either "AbscontDistribution" or "DiscreteDistribution".
