in_place_editor_field submitOnBlur & okButton=false options?
I have a few in_place_editor_fields working fine. I can access some of
the script.aculo.us options such as :cols, :save_text, :cancel_text, but
how do I access the okButton = false & submitOnBlur options? Basically,
I want no submit button, a cancel button, and the ability to submit when
I tab out of the field.
Is this doable without writing a helper? (avoiding digging that deep so

Passing Ajax.InPlaceEditor options
I''ve followed the instructions in the Rails Recipe #1 and have the
in_place_editor_field working but now I want to tweak how it looks and
behaves. I''d like to be able to override the default yellow highlight color,
which is done using the highlightcolor param according to the scriptaculous
documentation (unless I''m missing something).
I''m new to Ruby and Rails

Ajax.InplaceEditor (script.aculo.us / Prototype)
I am new to script.aculo.us and prototype and I am having problem
using it. It only has problem in IE. There is no problem in Firefox
and it works fine. I am using script.aculo.us InPlaceEditor and it
always returns object expected as an exception. What I could debug so
far is I could see element and url which are the parameters. I could
see object in Ajax.InPlaceEditor after creating class but

1) When I specify URL for save changes or not it doesn''t work. See example below:

Bug in Script.aculo.us'' Ajax.InPlaceEditor?
Guys,
I am likely going to submit this as a bug, but wanted to see if anyone
else is experiencing it. I''m trying to use an Ajax.InPlaceEditor. In
firefox, it works great, but in IE, it adds two form elements when
clicked instead of one.
In other words, you have two text fields, two ok buttons, and two cancel
links after clicking an element to be edited.
This even happens when

in_place_collection_editor
Hi,
I''m trying to write a helper for Scriptaculous'' InPlaceCollectionEditor
component. I''ve already submitted a patch
(http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/4302). This was a drunk patch; it
needs a bit of work (Don''t drink & code!). So far I''ve gotten it to work
correctly with normal collections, but I want to use it for belongs_to

script.aculo.us V1.5_pre1 released
Heya,
I''ve just released script.aculo.us V1.5_pre1.
Please give it a try!
Important new stuff (since V1.1b1):
* Added a main scriptaculous.js file to load in the other libraries
transparently.
* Fixed a condition where standard a href=xxx links wouldn''t work in
autocomplete results. These do now, the onclick event is not
cancelled. [thx to Jasper Slits]
* Added

Discussion on wysiwyg-for-script-aculo-us-inplaceeditor-using-tinymce
Hi Valentine,
I am currently trying out your inPlaceEditor and I am happy with so
far as it helps with the CMS I am developing in Rails at the moment.
However, when you click cancel and go into in-place editing right
after again, the textfield does not switch into WYSIWYG mode anymore.
That behaviour is correct, because you do not disconnect the editor
instance form the DOM tree on cancel.

InPlaceSelectEditor question
I''m attempting to use the example given in the Rails Recipes book chapter 2,
to create a select drop-down using the InPlaceEditor function (modified to
be InPlaceSelectEditor.
The example given works (a country list drop-down), but I''m attempting to
use it to display a list of items generated from an object in another table
that is linked to the table that I''m editing.

In_place_editor in a For loop
I''m using Ajax to create a list of items. Once these items have been
created the user can edit in place and delete them. I''ve got the ajax
working for delete and removing the element from the page, but the
in_place_editor_field doesn''t seem to like being in a for loop. I''ve
got in_place_editor working for single items, but what''s the syntax

New stuff in script.aculo.us trunk
Heya all,
There''s some new stuff in the script.aculo.us trunk as of today that
needs to be tested,
so maybe give it a shot:
* Added Ajax.InPlaceCollectionEditor which uses a SELECT element
instead of a text field (see test/functional/
ajax_inplacecollectioneditor_test.html for usage), #3491 [thx anna]
* Enable in place editor to use RJS (implements a new evalScripts

Next script.aculo.us release, help needed
Hey there!
I''m in the process of looking through the various bug reports and
tickets and
fixing script.aculo.us as I go along.
As I want a 1.6.2 bugfix release to happen this week, please help me
out with:
- Looking throught the open bugs list on the trac, testing stuff and
giving helpful comments (like "+1")
- Identifiying what bugs/patches should be included (answer to

Autocompleting InPlaceEditor
Hi,
I''ve created some extensions to script.aculo.us InPlaceEditor, allowing
the use of either server-driven, or local autocompletion. I''ve also
created new helper methods in Rails for this functionality.
My question is, is there any interest that I package this and make it
available as a plugin, or something like that?
Regards

In place editing on a list - not passing ID through
I want to do in-place edits on a list of data, but I''m having trouble
getting the ID passed through to the controller.
I use this in my view to create the field:
<% for frame in @frames %>
...
<%= in_place_editor_field :frame, :price %>
<% end %>
and this produces the following in my output:
<span class="in_place_editor_field"

script.aculo.us patches and bug reports got a new home
Heya,
As handling the bug reports and patches through the list and some
obsure wiki pages became ever more complicated,
I can gladly announce that from now on patches and bug reports are
handling at the Ruby on Rails trac.
There''s a new component called "script.aculo.us" that should be set
on all bug reports and patches that affect script.aculo.us.
Please do not use the

script.aculo.us and jspkg
Hey guys,
I''m the author of the recently-released Javascript package loader,
jspkg, that was just released to Sourceforge. I''m trying to judge
interest in using this library loader for various unobtrusive Javascript
libraries like script.aculo.us.
jspkg requires very minimal changes to the included source files and
most libaries won''t require any code to be

Prototype 1.4.0_pre4 + script.aculo.us 1.5_pre4?
Hello,
I''m maintaining the PEAR-installable PHP packages for both script.aculo.us
and Prototype on Pearified.com.
I saw the 1.5_pre4 release of script.aculo.us yesterday, and would like to
release the update on Pearified.com, but don''t want to release hacked
versions of Prototype.
I saw that Prototype was updated to 1.4.0_pre4 yesterday as well ... Is that
