Hello all,
I work for a company located in Madison, WI and we''re looking at
replacing a pre-Struts J2EE ecommerce app with Rails. ''ve been

How does craigslist retain search query results?
When you search for a keyword on craigslist, a list of posts is
returned. When you click on an individual post in that list, the full
post is displayed. Then, when you press the back button on your
browser, the results list is displayed again, without the server having
to query again for the list of keywords. How can I get the server to
remember search results without having to requery the

has any one tried 'craigslist' type application in rails?
I am currently working on a open source classifieds script in rails.
Just curious to know if any one has tried this before. How easy or
difficult it is to produce something similar to craigslist?

OT: finding a designer (bit of a rant)
I''ve written my app already. It outputs valid xhtml and I need a stylesheet
to drop over the top. How hard is it for people to understand that?
It''s a small project, they''d have to do the main design/layout, and then a
little custom styling for some specific elements which don''t appear on every
page. That''s the point of CSS right? write once, use

CraigsPalFree problems
Hello Wine Gurus,
I am new to running apps with Wine but have been moderately successful so far. I am trying to work with CraigsPalFree, a nifty app that allows the user to "power-search" craigslist -- sortable results, multiple locations, etc.
The URL is craigspal.com and the download location is http://www.craigspal.com/to_download.php.
Here is what happens (the order varies):

best way to design uknown depth of subcategories
Hello,
What would be the best way to design a table of posts that belong to a
unknown depth of categories. Say i wanted to display the posts of data (i.e.,
craigslist) but the category could be something like
NewYork/RealEstate/Housing/ForSale/ByOwner. Would acts_as_tree work best
here and assign each sublevel to a different id? just trying to take the
easiest approach here using the best

A very simple question
Hi all,
My apologies for a very simple question. I just downloaded
R 2.6.0. I want to bring in all of the objects from 2.5.0
that I see when I type ls(). I have no idea how to do that.
Thanks in advance.

Where to recruit Ruby on Rails developers?
Anyone have suggestions on where to recruit Ruby on Rails developers?
My startup''s in Berkeley, CA and I''m looking for a talented technical
lead. I''ve tried LinkedIn and Craigslist but the pickings are slim. This
project provides an opportunity to use OpenLaszlo.

Missing data
Hi all,
I'm looking for a contributed package that can provide a detailed
account of missing data patterns and perhaps also provide imputation
procedures, such as mean imputation or hot deck imputation and the like.
Is there anything out there?
Thanks in advance,
David
