RideMe 1.0 (Rails IDE for Windows) 1.0
Just wanted to let all those Windows devs out there know that RideMe 1.0 dropped over the weekend. http://www.projectrideme.com/ If you''ve never used RideMe before, here are some highlights: * 100% free, open source, and not built on top of anything else. You just need Ruby 1.8.2 and .NET 2.0 installed. * Mission in life is to be lightweight and very fast. This is not a general

RadRails
Hi, i was hoping someone could reffer me to a place i could learn about the radrails application/editor/enviornment/... i was looking around for a good editor/etc for developing my applications, and i somehow stumbled up upon radrails ... at a first look, i am pleasantly shocked to see how easy developing applications might be, but i was hoping to give it (the first impression) a even

Compilation Errors
Hey there, I just updated to ferret 10.0.4, and acts_as_ferret 0.3, and now when I try to run my app with mongrel on Windows, I get very strange compile errors: ompile error C:/rails/app/script/../config/../app/views/login/index.rhtml:8: Invalid char `\002'' in expression C:/rails/app/script/../config/../app/views/login/index.rhtml:9: syntax error _erbout.concat "

Hyphens
Hi there, I''m working with some legacy data where customer phone numbers are stored with hyphens between the area code, exchange, and number (e.g. 555-555-5555). Is this the best way to store a phone number? Perhaps not, but it''s the way they were being stored, so I have to work with this format. Right, so when I save a record the log tells me acts_as_ferret indexed the

Sorting Boolean fields
Hey there, I came across this thread: http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/78148#126235 where sorting in reverse by a boolean field wasn''t working properly. I''m having the same issue now, but there''s not a reply in that thread. I was wondering if anyone has figured this out yet? Bascially, I want all the records with a "1" (true) to float to the top of the

acts_as_ferret with Mongrel and Edge Rails
Hi there, Has anyone tried acts_as_ferret with Edge Rails and Mongrel? When I install the plugin to a project that has Edge Rails frozen, and the Mongrel gem installed, I can''t start the server. There''s no error, it just doesn''t start. I''ve used acts_as_ferret in the past with WEBrick, and stable Rails releases without a hitch. If I remove the

Q: Can I over-ride the value of ${CALLERIDNAME} ?
Folks, I'd like to change the value of ${CALLERIDNAME} for incoming PSTN calls from certain numbers, but haven't found a way that works. The goal is to provide more informative names on my phones' caller ID displays--e.g., I would prefer to display "ROB CELL" instead of "CELLULAR CALL" when I call home from my cell phone. This is what I tried in the context

Any way to over-ride the "-q" option to debug a possible race condition?
I have a slightly complicated question. I am using an mpi application (Intel impi) which uses ssh to launch applications. For about 0.1-0.2% of the ssh connections I end up with a zombie, i.e. ps will show [ssh] <defunct>. Something is going wrong with the ssh when it starts, perhaps a race condition, it is not disconnecting after some time, that I have been able to verify. The most obvious

[PATCH] qemu pcnet emulation fixes
The attached patch to the qemu emulation of the pcnet hardware fixes several problems. It will now only read and write a transmit or receive descriptor once. It will correctly handle transmitting frames with more than two fragments. It will discard oversize frames instead of corrupting memory. I have tested all the changes I have made and even seen an improvement in receive performance from

Multple domains, same application, different CSS, some over-rides
I am building a site that will have several different branded versions of the same site in order to do some SEO coverage. e.g www.foo.com, www.foo.co.uk and www.bar.com There are many discussions on sub-domains but I would like to come up with a solution to support the following: 1. multiple domains supported as virtual hosts on Apache acting as a proxy where I anticipate Rewrites to do

R CMD check issue
I'm running "R CMD check" for 600+ of the packages that depend on survival, and at the end look for ??? grep Status *.Rcheck/00check.log? | grep ERROR to find any that failed.?? But by accident I just looked at the log for the Greg package, which finishes with the lines found below.? Is the final note of WARNING rather than ERROR on purpose, or an error??? [LLVMdev] Cross-compiling for cortex-m3: how do I get ride of -ccc-gcc-name ?
Making a symlink to clang in the same directory as the GCC / binutils (I'll call it $ARM_BIN) called arm-none-linux-gnueabi-clang (and one with clang++ too) and another link in the $ARM_BIN/../lib directory to clang directory located under clang's lib (for includes) should be enough. Include pre-existing PDF files as vignettes in an R package?
Greetings. The group that I work with has just started using the approach outlined in Karl Broman's handy primer: http://kbroman.org/pkg_primer/pages/vignettes.html to create vignettes for a couple of R packages. This works fine as long as we have a current Rmd version of the vignette. But we have some old PDF documents that we'd like to include as vignettes as well. I'd like
