City of Heroes control problem. Keys repeat.
The problem is that when moving (the most obvious activity you can see this with) the key you press acts like it's being pressed in rapid succession instead of being held down. That is until another key is pressed then the previous key moves the character smoothly. This might be a problem with my keyboard though. But I'm putting this out there just in case anybody else has the same

Fedora 10 - update killed text input to Wine
This weekend I built a new machine running Fedora 10, its software was up to date as of Saturday morning (I think, maybe Friday evening). I installed Wine with "yum" (version 1.1.14). I managed to get Diablo 2 LOD installed and working (flawlessly!). I was happily playing this afternoon, then exited the game and ran "yum update". After the update text input did not work (the

What is 'CPU' memory?
When playing WoW through Wine (1.3.6) my video settings are limited because some of them require "2G or more CPU memory". Another computer in the house can play in Windows with those settings maxed out on a graphics card that only has 1G built in, so the setting doesn't mean graphics memory. My computer has 5G of ram (32 bit PAE kernel) so it's not that. So what is CPU

programs through wine crashing
I put a new video card in a previously stable system, no other changes. Now WoW, Ventrilo, and City of Heroes all work for a little while then crash, sometimes with an error message, sometimes without. System: AMD Phenomx4, 5gig RAM Fedora core 10 x64, installed from disk, fully updated Wine 1.1.14, installed through yum New video card: Nvidia geforce 9800gt, 1gig memory Current video driver:

multiple wine version questions
If I have two different versions of wine installed, do I need to install each program I want to run through wine is a separate folder, or will they both get the data from the one .wine folder in the home directory? Is there anything special I need to know or do before building the new version so that it doesn't mess up by current version in case I need to go back to that? The newest

error opening winecfg
I updated my distro from Fedora 10 to Fedora 11 yesterday. I did not update wine because the version it wants to use is 1.1.23 and I remember several posts of people having trouble with either .23 or .24. All of my games and office/work programs run fine through wine, but the wine cfg window will not start up. I get: ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such

Ventrilo crash error - related to winecfg error?
I have checked the db before posting and I think I have tried everything listed there. Using Fedora 11, wine 1.1.20 (newest in their repository except .23). All sound works - including in Vent until it crashes. Vent starts up, I can connect to a server, I hear the connection sounds, and then I get a 'had an error, shutting down' box and it crashes. Running from terminal I get: ALSA

Wine and PAE kernel
Are there any known issues with Wine on a computer running a 32bit PAE kernel? Google didn't turn up anything but I don't always pick the best search terms and would like to know what to look out for on a reinstall.

list spam related question
In the thread "[Wine] New to Wine...and already in trouble..." there was a spam post by kizi that says it was "Sent from the Wine - Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com". Can people really send things to our list/forum from other sites/forums? It also seems odd that the reply directs a person to catch up on the thread by linking to Nabble instead of the Wine forum. It

World of Warcraft - ATi 8.41.7
Hi, I was playing around on my laptop last night and installed the 8.41.7drivers from ATi, my laptop has an X1400 in it, not the HD2400 that the drivers were designed for so I understand some things may not function correctly and will cover the observations: 1. Pixels shaders+Vertex shaders - I have to disable these or I get missing elements from the screen, once tunred off it all renders ok 2.

scim-bridge?
Anybody familiar with it, or what it's needed for? I've got at least one user (it's *very* noticeable with her) whose system is spamming /var/log/messages, to the effect of "Another agent is running...\nFailed to allocate the agent. Exitting" (complete with misspelled exiting). In googling, I've seen someone just removing the package. What, if anything, would that break?

Pulse audo in 1.3.25+
So I used to use the winepulse patch for wine. (Yes I like pulse). But since 1.3.25+ uses mmdevapi for audio, that patch no longer works. That author points to a wine multimedia git, however, after installing that I have no more sound in any wine application, and the winecfg test audio says audio failed. How do I get this new sound server working in wine? -- Sincerely, MacNean C. Tyrrell

how to disable scim
Hello: I keep getting these An IOException occurred at scim_bridge_client_imcontext_set_cursor_location () messages -- and I'd like to turn them off. I won't mind having scim just plain turned off. However, in using Google, I find a hint such as "right click on the tray, ..." -- so where's the tray? A second part of that hint suggested using

SCIM malfunctioning on wine 1.1.15
I just downloaded wine 1.1.15, compiled and installed it on my centos 5.2 PC. It's exciting to successfully migrate applications to linux. However, I found that SCIM sends strange codes as Chinese and Japanese characters to applications. I need both Chinese and Japanese input methods very much. Can anyone give me advice to correct this problem?

Not the OP, but I will tell you why it is important.
