IrfanView - got installer working, but program won't run
Hi guys! I am new to Wine, and one of my all-time favourite porgrams ever, IrfanView, is the first one I'm trying to run with this emulator. I got past the installation, which needed MFC42.dll, by installing vcrun6 (MS Visual C++ 6 sp4 libraries: mfc42, msvcp60, msvcrt) using WineTricks. Now IrfanView itself still won't run. I re-installed my system after screwing it up last week, before

Ubuntu 8.10 - Irfanview - no longer able to install or use.
DOS ".EXE" programs aren't "automagically" being opened by WINE, but with the "Archive Manager. I found this by Right Clicking on the Wine EXE file. This opens the "Archive Manager" as the default application, not "Wine Windows Program Loader" as it used to. I have confirmed this with the native 8.10 version and the latest WINE from Wine HQ.

New winetricks 20110628: 18 new verbs (adobe_diged, audible, irfanview, winamp, bioshock2, lego_potc_demo, nfsworld, d3dx9_43, glidewrapper, grabfullscreen, ...)
Another two months, another winetricks release. (So much for release early, release often :-) Highlights: - fixes a bunch of verbs whose download URLs had changed, especially vcrun2005 and vcrun2008. - fixes the annoying "unexpanded variable" error which happened when running old wine with a new wineprefix. - brings back gog support (though without automated download for now; any

IrfanView/IrfanPaint-Latest update doesn't save paint edits
For a while, IfranPaint has given me trouble in keeping the changes it has made applied to the original. In 4.25 I found that if you zoomed to "Original Size" it would keep it's data (lines text, edits, etc.) when the dialog was closed, but now, in 4.27 (with the latest 4.13.67 version Paint) , there is nothing I can find to keep the changes. Even saving "in process" does

Wine 1.3.21 - Irfanview 4.25 stopped working!

IrfanView vs FastStone: wine in Ubuntu
I tried Irfanview via wine in my Ubuntu laptop. Install seemed to occur, but desktop IrfanView icon did not work. There seemed to may to make IrfanView run via wine. So I tried FastStone. Its install worked, and its desktop icon was functional. I've read numerous threads about problems installing IrfanView via wine on LInux machines. I wonder what FastStone has done correctly that

Switching to 16 bit colour ...
"bit of trouble" - good pun! But I do hope it gets solved. Can you make a bash file (oh no - a pun of my own!) to automate any of those annoyances? Would putting the game "in its own WINE" help at all? Irfanview
Hi, I'm new to Wine and understand very little about it. However, I did manage (somehow) to get Irfanview running in Winebottler which makes me very happy. Now that I've done that, how would I go about installing the "Plugin" file which would normally be installed within the Irfanview program in Windows? I just tried to execute the setup.exe and it started the install process

IrfanView-Ubuntu dialog box problems
In XP, Irfanview presents up to 90 (18 rows, 5 cols) of files in the "Open" file dialog box. That is, up to 90 files are displayed at once for a selected directory using the "open folder icon". Using WINE with Ubuntu 9.04 and Irfanview 3.98 or 4.25, the open box will only display up to 12 files (6 rows by 2 cols). This is very inconvenient for a directory with hundreds of

Page fault when loading Irfanview
After having to reformat my machine recently, I reinstalled Hardy Heron and, a day or so later, Wine (1.1.6, using sudo aptitude install wine). After also installing mfc42.dll, I attempted installation of Irfanview, and the following was output despite the process completing: Code: fixme:advapi:CheckTokenMembership ((nil) 0x125a78 0x32f31c) stub! fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub

Wine is a program that enables users to run Windows programs on non-Windows operating systems, including Linux, and Mac OSX. Why would you want to install it on XP? Irfanview
I'm trying to get Irfanview to work with no success so far. According to the instructions I have I need to copy "mfc42.dll" to "~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32", which I've done. I've confirmed that the file is there. I also have copied the install program to "~/.wine/drive_c/". I then try installing the program (wine iview398.exe) but get the

Window Scrolling on OSX
I think this has been noted in previous posts by others, but I'm noticing it with post-version 1 builds of Darwine for OSX and I'm wondering if there's any way to fix it. The behavior is hard to describe but here goes: when using either Irfanview or Forte Agent, mouse activity in the Windows app causes the window to move downward on the desktop. Each click, the windows jumps

Wine Mac OSX Questions
If I'm reading http://thisismyinter.net/?p=29 correctly, there is no "current" (post 0.9.53) build for Tiger? Is a newer build available from a different site? Full guide: How to Crack DRM Video
Why isn't it possible to simply unregister users who send spam like this? If it's not a bot and is a registered user, shouldn't there be some consequence to posting spam? Recognizing that the idiot could re-register with another name and manually post more of this again, it seems like "we" should be making it more difficult for him/her to continually pollute the list.

Is there a difference ...?
Doh123, how is running a program off an NTFS partition asking for trouble? Ntfsprogs seems to handle it just fine. I know that NTFS doesn't let you mark a file as executable, and that the filesystem is susceptible to fragmentation, but you should just be able to tell it to run rather than display and be good. It shouldn't cause destruction. I think there might even be an NTFS defrag tool
