My Back-UPS RS 1000 went haywire, any ideas?
Is the battery old? PbAc ones usually last for 2-3 years and then degrade.
Should be a field-replaceable part.
Some 20 years ago I had an APC BackUPS become a glorified power strip every
few years, so when the wall power disappeared - load went down immediately.
It was also beeping about battery replacement (but in the closet, was not
often noticed quickly). This is also a way for you to check if

samba passwords gone haywire since upgrade (3.0.0-1)
hi all,
i was running the previous RPM (samba-2.2.8a-2_rh73.i386.rpm) and have just
upgraded to the 3.0.0-1. everything seemed to go smoothly.
when I try to mount my media share from my other linux box, I get the
following error:

pair in a Tree Connect or Session Setup are invalid.)

FXO Issues
All,
Experiencing some issues on my FXO lines. If a call comes in on an FXO
and then get transferred to another FXO (say to call someones cell
phone), those two lines will stay tied together indefinitely. This
happens to us when we transfer an incoming call to our on call guys
after hours and on weekends. We have installed 3 other * boxes and they
do the same thing.
We use a Adit Channel bank

Tripplite Smart 2200 and Battery Voltage
For my Smart 2200, a charged battery string is anywhere between 25.6 and
26.8 volts. I'm seeing nut report 13.0 volts, which seems suspicious. Even
if the UPS were reporting half of the actual battery voltage to keep
protocol compatibility with models having a 12V battery system, the value
of exactly 13.0 seems unlikely.

Tripplite UPS
Leslie,
This message is most appropriate for the NUT user list. I kept Rik
Faith's and Nicholas Kain's copyright information because the
tripplite_usb driver borrows heavily from the tripplite (serial)
driver, but they are not responsible for the mess that I made in the
USB driver.
See below.

Cisco 7960 Locking Up
Ok... I asked a question a few months back about a 7960 that a user
claims to be "shocking" her in her ear from time to time. A few others
indicated they had similiar issues and alot of them seemed to stem from
power over ethernet. Here's what we've done... We replaced the phone,
ran two new cat5 cables to a different switch, put in a power brick and
disabled power over

Logic problem in NUT with upscode2 driver
Hi All,
I have what is probably a 12 year old (or older) Compaq R3000 UPS
plugged into a FreeBSD 8 system running NUT version 2.6.5
This UPS contains a total of 16 batteries in 2 banks of 8,
each battery is 6 volts and the bank produces 50 volts.
The UPS monitors battery voltage and the battery charger in
the UPS works like this. For about 2 days it will apply a
charge/float/topping

Question about Tripp-Lite UPS life span
Hello,
Somewhat off-topic, but seeking some input from other tech folk on this list. I have a Tripp-Lite SMART 2200 (a white tower that looks similar to, but predates the black SMART2200NET) that just failed its monthly battery test so I bought new batteries and replaced the old ones. Sadly once put back together, plugged in and enabled it did not power up--no lights, sounds, smoke, etc. I took

Faint background noise/crackle on FXS port on TDM400P
Hi, I have had this issues for ages but have ignored it, but my handsets
get faint background crackle on the FXS port. When I connect the handset
directly into my PSTN, it goes away complete, so I am generating this from
somewhere in my asterisk box. I get it immediately when the phone goes
off-hook and it stays through the dialing and call progress.
I can't think of any other devices

TDM-400 doesn't detect far-end hangup
Hi:
I'm using a TDM-400 to terminate PSTN lines at my Asterisk server with
kewlstart signalling.
When an outside caller calls the server, the TDM-400 goes off-hook and
provides a ringing tone to the caller. If the caller hangs up before the
receiving party answers the phone, Asterisk fails to detect the hang-up.
The TDM-400 stays off-hook, hogging the line, while Asterisk rings the

Plain Old Answering Machine
Hi -
I have an fairly vanilla answering machine (actually its a combo
cordless phone/answering machine) attached to an FXS port (on a TDM400
Card).
Everything is working as planned except I seem to be having a bit of
trouble with the answering machine. After is answers it plays the
outgoing message and then hangs up before letting the caller leave a
message. (it actually hangs up before the

Incorrect values returned from usbhid-ups
I have the same issue of incorrect output voltage being reported by usbhid-ups, as run on NAS4Free (FreeBSD). UPS is as shown below. There is a thread on this list from 2014 that has these same issues, apparently never addressed by any of the later usbhid-ups releases. I?m using 2.7.3.
The value I am especially concerned with is the output voltage; if ANY thing should be right on the report, it?s

Dead Polycom ip500
Hi,
I just got and setup a new ip500 yesterday and it worked for about 15
minutes. Then it froze during a reboot. Now, when power cycled, the
logo comes on for 3 seconds and then the screen is blank and nothing
further happens. 468* factory reset doesn't work. I am about to send
the phone back, but wonderd if anyone had a suggestion first.

Effectively using a telco Type 102 Milliwatt Test line with ztmon itor -v to set txgain/rxgain in zapata?
I am trying to obtain optimum gain settings for a bank of analog lines
connected to a channel bank. My telco has provided a 'Type 102' test line to
use for incoming level calibration. This is functionally equivalent to app
Milliwatt(), but provides tone from the CO inwards.
Question is, how should one use this a 0dbm test source with ztmonitor? Am I
correct in understanding that a 0dbm

# IP601's with POE per Catalyst 3560G-48PS
Hello people,
I am having difficulties figuring out the POE power draw in
watts from a Polycom IP601. I want to know how many
IP601's can be powered from the Cisco Catalyst 3560G-48PS.
The IP601 wallwart has: Input 120VAC 60hz 19W, Output 24VDC
500mA. I assume the output is appropriate value to figure
out how many phones can be powered.
The Cisco 3560 datasheet says "the 48-port PoE

OT: Differences between test equipment
Hello!
Given the current discusison regarding ztmonitor, line testing, etc., I've
been looking into purchasing a used transmission test set. From my
research, it seems that there are two items that might fit the bill: the
HP 3551A and the HP 4935A.
I know nothing about these specific devices. I *do* have a good
background in electronics, and I understand the concept what they're

3 x TDM400P in one PC ??
Hi Folks,
Does anybody have experiences with plugging 3 TDM400P cards in one PC??
I think about a Asterisk box handling 8 incoming analogue lines and providing
4 lines to an old analogue PBX.
I read a lot about trouble with the TDM400P cards so this idea seams to be not
really god, or?
Ciao
Joerg
