guidelines for version specific info on wiki pages
hi Guys,
Just wondering if we should have some guidelines as to how version
specific information should be handled on the wiki ?
One way might be to have a version tag on each page on the top right and
indicate what Versions that page is going to work with. Then in the body
have a Grey bar to indicate version specific info. But this might get a
bit messy.
Any other ideas ?

Can we / should we think about using google translate for offering pages
in languages where there is no local translation ?

moin auth from http-auth
hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone know the possibility of getting Moin to inherit
http auth ?
Was just looking at a few things that we might be able to do - and using
inherit from http auth might make life a bit easier for us, and users.

page for translators
hi guys,
is there a page I could point potential translators at ? There have been
a few people who have shown interest in helping with some languages that
we do not have translations for at the moment, including russian,
gujrati, greek and turkish.
Is there a page on the wiki that we could point these people at ? maybe
a 'getting started with translations', something that might

www.centos.org and the wildcard dns
hi guys,
At the moment there is a www.centos.org site. There is also a wildcard
dns setup that directs anything.centos.org to www.centos.org's content
This has a couple of 'issues' with SEO and google sepcifically. The
reason we have such low page rank is that google marks all of this as
duplicate content. I am sure there are other search engines that do as
well ( Bing has a

request for hosting ( London, UK )
Hi Chaps,
A couple of Sun Netra t105 have been donated to the CentOS Project. The machines
are located in London and I was wondering if anyone in the area might be able to
host these machines for us ?
They come with 19" rack rails. We would need access to some - but not a whole
lot of - bandwidth. We plan on using these machines in developer roles, for code
testing and sandbox builds.

Merging Documentation and Help pages
Hi,
Going over the wiki some more I noticed that the GettingHelp and
Documentation page contain the same type of information and could be
merged (and reduced) as well.
On the FrontPage it is called "Learn" (which I like) and
points to the Documentation page. On top it says "Help" and points to the
GettingHelp page.
I would prefer to keep the Documentation page (or rename

howto's and docs from the forums
hi guys,
just spent 20 minutes looking through the forums on the website, and it
seems people are posting howtos and walkthoughs there.
whats the general feeling ? is it worth getting in touch with the
authors and seeing if they would like to maintain them on the wiki
instead ?
I know some of them are really mad and we wont / dont want to highlight
them too much ( like, gnome-2.16 hacked

Package lists for Cloud images
hi Guys,
As we get ready to start publishing Cloud Images ( or rather images
consumable in various virt platforms, including public and private
clouds ) - it would be great to have a baseline package manifest worked
out.
What / how many images should we build. At this time we were thinking of
doing :
- CentOS-5 32bit minimal
- CentOS-6 32bit minimal
- CentOS-5 64bit minimal
- CentOS-6 64bit

long pages
hi guys,
some of the pages on the wiki are getting quite large ( eg.
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/BuildingKernelModules ), and its not easy to work
out what all might be included in the page, without actually going through most
of it ( were going to loose context in this case )
What would be a better option ? to split the pages up into more manageable
chunks or to just create an index on

Why CentOS as a webhosting platform
Hi,
CentOS seems to be doing really well in the hosting business these days, and
even for people who would normally have used Windows or OSX on the hosting
previously, are now looking at using CentOS. And I thought it would be nice to
have a section on the wiki about exactly why that is.
Not having any direct connection with the hosting business I was wondering if
people here could help me

amazon web services and CentOS
hi,
Over the last few months, based on the fact that people were asking me
about it, I was in turn asking Amazon what they are doing to make CentOS
available on their EC2 platform.
After much conversation to / from their end, they are in a situation
where they have offered me some access and credits to make the whole
CentOS on AWS happen. This is the sort of thing right up the VirtSIG

4.1 being dropped from mirrors
Hi guys,
Just to let everyone know that the CentOS 4.1 tree will be dropped from
the mirrors shortly, since 4.2 has now been out for a week. If anyone
has their yum config's hardwired to point at 4.1 - those config's will
now stop working.
The 4.1 repo's will be available at http://vault.centos.org/ once they
are removed from http://mirror.centos.org/ ( and all external mirrors

Splitting the container pipeline page in the wiki
hi Bama
since there are other things going on in the container space around
centos, I was thinking maybe we can setup a /Container page, and then
have a /Container/Registry and a /Container/Pipeline page each. the
pipeline page can talk about the service, code and run setup. and the
registry page can talk about howto get content in there, what content is
already there and urls to the user setup
