Curious pause/resume behavior
Hi all,
While testing the pause/resume functionality with the daemon_test.rb
script, I noticed this odd bit of behavior. It appears that sometimes,
the pause command seems to actually stop the service. It doesn''t happen
every time - just sometimes. Here is a bit of command line history to
demonstrate:

Off-Topic Mambo Vulnerabilities & Patches
On the Mambo CMS site there are vulnerabilities found. Whilst this is
not a CentOS problem, people rent/deploy servers (CentOS) on the net
with Mambo. A guy in one of the user forums on the net, had his Mambo
4.5.2 server hacked and they installed some interesting stuff in /tmp
. When a server is hacked it gives bad PR for the underlying OS.

No php or ssl needed - that is me - simple. So I should be good to go

OT: Asterisk and Mambo - help wanted
Hello everyone,
So, this isn't exactly what it seems. I am not looking to integrate
Asterisk and Mambo. I am the maintainer/creator of AstLinux, and I have
recently decided that I should really have a better web site for it. I
would like to use Mambo so that I can do updates easily, from anywhere,
without having to waste time learning PHP/HTML/etc. Mambo CMS seems the
best and most

Stopping services
I''m back to getting stuff to run as a Windows service, and am running
in to a problem. My service (a Daemon ruby class) installs and starts
fine, but when I try to stop it, I get:
C:\workspaces\default\tahoe>ruby script\service stop
script/service:77:in `stop'': An exception occurred in the service
when handling
the control request. (Win32::ServiceError)

flash plugin
How do I get a flash plugin to work with firefox?
I thought that I installed it correctly,
but I have yet to see any flash videos through firefox.
I keep being told that I need an additional plugin.
When I folow directions, I'm told I already have it?
At least once, I was told I needed to upgrade.
In case it helps, here is the output of

FW: [Mongrel] Broken win32 service support for lastest mongrels.
Hi all,
I''ve forwarded this from the Mongrel mailing list to see if anyone has
any thoughts. In summary, Luis is hitting broken pipe errors on
occasion when he tries to stop a service. In a later email Luis
mentions that simply ignoring them might not always be the best idea,
since sometimes the service seems to no longer respond, even though it
still appears to be running fine.

Mongrel, Mutex and FastThread results for win32.
Hello Guys,
Been testing fastthread (known on previous releases as
optimized_locking) for soon to be released 0.3.18 mswin32 gems
(official ones).
Attached to this message is the ruby script I used for the test
results shown on graphics [1] and [2]
The idea of the script is simulate what Mongrel do with threads
creating a simple workload for testing Ruby VM stability.

Mongrel Service 0.3.1, basic process monitoring
Hello Folks,
I tried create a valid gem repository under windows without luck
(rubygems show problem with CRLF/LF line endings between *nix and
windows).
Anyway, I''ve uploaded a new gem to my webpage:

Whats new?
Beside the things added in previous announcement [1], this version add

Fun with Mongrel and cygwin.
On the Mongrel FAQ forum, Josh Wehner was having problems with cygwin
(don''t know if he fixed it).
http://rubyforge.org/forum/forum.php?thread_id=6978&forum_id=5450
Due that, I manage to install cygwin, ruby and rails on my humble
little computer, it compiled worked ok (taste like *nix, so I felt a
bit off-road running this).
Anyway, tried to pass test for mongrel, and still get 1

Mongrel as win32-service, round3.
Hello lists!
This is not spam, but included the 2 lists (mongrel-users and
win32utils-devel) because the both are involved.
Attached is the 3rd version of a simple http_service script used
previously to get the things right for the mongrel Rails service.
With the modifications Zed implemented the past days (into the beta
gem, 0.3.13). Now the service part works better.
Still, a few things must

No log/mongrel.log file under win32.
To follow up this bug report:
When you run mongrel_rails without the daemonize option -d on
*nix, it also don''t generate log/mongrel.log file!
Because win32 cannot Process.fork like *nix, should it start
logging to logfile after showing Ctrl+C option?
Suggestions are welcome on how to reply to this "feature".

no log/mongrel.log file on win32, looking for suggestions...
Hello Mongrels around the world!
Been thinking a way to unify the issue I described in the subject.
For those who aren''t aware, mongrel (actually, mongrel_rails) only
generate the log file if daemonize was used (-d)
That means no log file under windows, due his lack of
fork/daemonization capabilities.
Now, users that need to run mongrel on windows cannot report and fill

Open Source Content Management System - Joomla
There was some discussion in the past about which one is the best
Content Management System that can be used in conjunction with Asterisk.
Mambo was supposed to be the best out there under GPL. The guys who
developed Mambo have a new product now - Joomla. I am using this and it
appears to be better than Mambo in many respects. Read the gist about
Joomla below.

For the past weeks I have been working in solve the problems with
mongrel_service and its *crazy* behavior related to standard
