Rate limiting
I am trying to rate limit a particular user/ip''s news traffic and have added the line ACCEPT loc:10.5.75.253 net tcp 119 - - 1/sec:2 While this has slowed down the traffic, it has not throttled it to the point I would like. Yet with a sniffer I can see around 15 packets a second going thru. My T1 is close to saturation, and I would like to

Request for Kazaa Info input into Shorewall Wiki
Hello, I have been maintaining, well watching, no real maintenance yet, the shorewall wiki (http://wiki.rettc.com/wiki.phtml?title=Wiki_Shorewall_FAQ) and though its evolution is slow, there is definitely evolution. Maybe it will become useful yet. I looked at this recent post: http://wiki.rettc.com/wiki.phtml?title=Talk:Port_Forwarding Here someone has requested help for Kazaa. I am sure this

Shorewall FAQ Wiki Online, nearly complete...
Hello, Mike Noyes and myself have populated http://wiki.rettc.com with the shorewall FAQ. This wiki is running MediaWiki, http://www.mediawiki.org. Currently, a couple items are not complete. I have just begun a heavy semester of mathematics/physics studies, and do not have much time to give to this. But, it is online, and seems to be stable. I will keep an eye out for abuse, and limit

Is is possible to do "shorewall reject 1.1.1.1 tcp 25"
Hello, Is is possible to do "shorewall reject 1.1.1.1 tcp 25" ? So I can dynamically blacklist offensive smtp senders, but only have shorewall reject certain types (smtp) traffic from them? Thanks, Alex Martin http://www.rettc.com

RFC: Shorewall wiki is going down!
Hello, In reference to http://wiki.rettc.com/wiki.phtml?title=Wiki_Shorewall_FAQ ; Well, after a lot of emails I setup a wiki for shorewall, etc. It has proved to be completely useless. I have noticed one slight distro specific example added, a couple typo additions and fixes, otherwise, all contributions have been in excess (Tom...), or in malign. For my uses it has proven of little use as

'ERROR: parsing the volfile failed' on fresh install
glusterd.vol file is default installed with glusterfs package. So I'm not sure how did you end up into a state where this file was missing (as per my initial investigation looking at the logs). What you could do to check if this file is really missing or not by running "find / -iname glusterd.vol" and if it's indeed missing then copy it from one of the peer node and restart

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi Soumya, We just had the opportunity to try the option of disabling the kernel-NFS and restarting glusterd to start gNFS. However the gluster demon crashes immediately on startup. What additional information besides what we provide below would help debugging this? Thanks, Pat -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: gluster-nfs crashing on start Date: Mon, 7 Aug 2017 16:05:09

htb: class 10007 isn''t work conserving ?!
I''m getting the following error/warning at some point in my config script, and I''m not sure which class it is referring to. htb: class 10007 isn''t work conserving ?! I [think I] understand that htb is a non-work-conserving qdisc, and I [think I] have configured things so that every htb qdisc I instantiate limits the bandwidth, so I don''t understand why this

kernel assertion error

gluster + synology
In theory, you can run GlusterFS on a Synology box, as it is "just a Linux box". In practice, you might be the first person to ever try it. pthread_cancel error
Hello, I get the following error when I kill icecast. I am running icecast2 from source on a debian unstable box. I have looked around google and tried a couple of suggestions like moving and linking the libgcc library around, without any luck. "libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work?" Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Alex Martin shorewall@rettc.com
