Icecast [Bad Password]
I used an underscore ( _ ) and a couple of upper case characters for the passwords but after taking them out it didn't change the situation. <p><p>I had originally hardcoded the hostname address as '10.0.0.5' (where both Icecast and Ices is running), and when set up like this, the client would hang. I have since changed it so that the hostname is now

Stalled response from icecast to ices
Icecast 1.3.12 IceS 0.3 Linshout 2.0/2.1 tried Linux 2.6.7 VIA C3 architechure Hi. I have found a very interesting problem with the above setup. Icecast starts up fine, but when I try to connect with iceS I get no response. I've straced iceS and the last word comes from icecast, but waiting for more. Icecast mentions nothing during this process, but show a quick connect/lost connection when

Howto stream using icecast/ices bit rate peeled ogg files
Hi: Actually, if the stream were to peal to the best quality dependent on a listener's bandwidth, the capability would have to be in icecast, surely. no mp3s with ices2!? an other way?
Hi: My understanding was that the ices 0.x app was still being maintained. If it doesn't work with icecast2, and I've not personally tried it, then there's some problem with either ices 0.x or icecast2 and it needs to be fixed. icecast2 should also accept shoutcast-style MP3 streams as well, and again if this doesn't work, it's a bug that needs fixing. I don't see a lot

ices2 - Unreasonable error?
Hi: I hit a problem where a script that should return one of a list of files to be played is returning the same one each time. This is obviously not an ices problem, it's what ices did with it that bugs me. Here's the error: [2003-08-12 12:17:26] DBUG playlist-script/playlist_script_get_filename Program/script ("/usr/bin/egosched") returned filename

cannot get icecast and ices to talk...authentication failed
I have a weird one... I installed icecast 2 and ices .23 on Mandake, and am not having any luck I compiled and installed the nightly icecast just today. It seems to work fine, however when I telnet to it (10.0.0.3, port 8000), I am unable to login unless the first line contains ONLY the password. I used ethereal to see that iceS is trying to send to authenticate, and it is sending (as the first

'ice_login' not in icecast.xml ?
Hi: The authentication for the xml stats is as follows: username: source password: <the password you've put in the config file> The icelogin item is to allow older style source logins (i.e. not the http authentication that was implemented a number of weeks ago). this login is deprecated, so it's been deliberately left out of the XML configuration example. ices - unable to compile
thanks Geoff. I was going to spare everyone the details and continue my search but I sincerely appreciate the help. Here's the output from 'configure', 'make', and 'make install', as best I could capture it. I'm not editing any of the make files or using any flags. This is the latest version if ices that is on icecast.org. It appears that libshout came with the

ices compile problems (was: libshout compile problems)
Hi: I've not had any problems compiling libshout and ices2 on my debian woody system with the default autotools (I think they're automake 1.4p4 and autoconf 2.53 if memory serves). I use libogg and libvorbis 1.0 though, not current CVS. I do use libshout and ices2 cvs though. If auto* tools turn out to be a suspect, you can get packages right up to automake 1.7 under woody.
