On demand relay in icecast 2?
I'm using this on icecat 1.3.12 but it doesn't seem to work with icecast
2.0.0. The relay starts as soon as icecast is started and does not drop,
even if there are no clients. I've been over and over the docs and can't
figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Icecast2 does not currently support on-demand relaying.

win32-taskscheduler thoughts
I''ve updated taskscheduler.c and taskscheduler.h. The method names are now
more Ruby-like (though I have to change a couple yet), and I''ve shortened
the constant names, as well as moved the constants over to the .h file.
I was thinking we should merge a few of these methods. I think
"set_target_computer" and "new_work_item" could both be rolled into the

Fallback on-demand relay problem
We found an interesing issue that after a downed publishing point is
restored, the fallback relay doesn't stop relaying. We've tried everything,
but once /asf2 or /asf3 is envoked for /asf1 fallback reasons, they don't
stop relaying their source streams even though the output stream /asf1 has
returned to normal. Eventually we end up with /asf2 relaying indefinately

ICECast in Flash / IEWin
Alternatively you can just script the window media player control, and bind
it to your stream, that should work just fine, assuming you have my
directshow filters installed.

Does that mean it's available? I added <on-demand>1</on-demand> to one of
my relays on a 2.1.0 server but it didn't work. I have a server I'm
planning to set up if this functionality becomes active.

ICECast in Flash / IEWin
Doesn't work so well on Mozilla or anything other than IEWin... and I'm
worried about using lots of extra software.
Thanks for the suggestion tho.

on-demand stream relay
I have been searching through various archives, looking for the best
way to set up a stream so that the stream is only sent to the server
when there are listeners. It appears that to do this, I would need to
have a local icecast server on the machine where the stream
originates, and use the on-demand relaying to do the connection. This
seems like it will work, but has a few problems in

icecast + liveice won't play nicely
Michael, I think you are right. However, I cannot
successfully download and install icecast from
icecast.org. When I do so, gzip complains:
--
bash-2.05a$ tar fxz icecast-1.3.12.tar.gz
gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: child returned status 1
--
Is the distro corrupt? or am I missing something?
Is there a way to generate the crypted passwords? I
could not get makepasswd.c to compile as

ICECast in Flash / IEWin
Hello,
I'm using a flash player. First It didn't work with icecast 2. The blocking
difference between icecast 1 and icecast 2 is that icecast 2 don't send the
Content-Length header.
So, I made a small PHP proxy and now Flash works very well with icecast 2.
Other solution is to add this header in the icecast 2 source code and compile
it, but I don't have time to test.

Icecast relay as a source to another icecast?
I have a situation where I'd like to be able to have icecast reach out to
another icecast server as a client. Is this possible with relaying? From
what I read relaying and master relaying both have the server reach out to
another server.
The reason is this.
I have a hardware encoder (Telos audioactive) sitting on a cablemodem.
I have a remote provider (streamcheap or something) set to

Rejecting relay to save bandwidth function in icecast-2.2.0
Hello.
Until now I was using icecast-1.3.12 on my fedora box.I was very pleased.I
don't know why ;) , but I wanted to upgrade to icecast-2.2.0 and so I did.I'm
very pleased with this version too, one thing I don't like: it doesn't reject
the relay source when there isn't any client connected to the server, or I
don't know how to configure it to do this.I want this

[Newbie Q] Relay to an Icecast server apparently not relaying?
Hi:
Let me see if I understand what you're doing. You're using winamp (or
whatever) to stream to a shoutcast server which pushes a relay on to
live365 (or live365 pulls from shoutcast, same deal really). Now you've
got a second winamp with samcast trying to pull shoutcast or live365 and
pass it to icecast. Is that right?
OK. Firstly, there is no source connecting to icecast. The
