Feature requests - remote dump and optional file split
Hi:
I've been hired to provide, among other things, internet coverage for a
convention in 2 weeks. I have two feature requests, one highly desired and
one moderately desired.
My moderately desired feature has been mentioned before - server-side
recording of the stream. As in the cases mentioned previously, I'd like to
be able to repeat segments without having to upload them first.

Problem with streaming some mp3s (but not all)
So there is no way around having to re-encode them
all?

'ice_login' not in icecast.xml ?
Hi:
The authentication for the xml stats is as follows:
username: source
password: <the password you've put in the config file>
The icelogin item is to allow older style source logins (i.e. not the http
authentication that was implemented a number of weeks ago). this login is
deprecated, so it's been deliberately left out of the XML configuration
example.

Re [ogg]
Hi:
AFAIK, there are no unix docs for icecast2. You know the drill - code it
first, document it later. Remember, this is still in pre-release state.
Having said that, the icecast.xml file shows all available tags (I think).

Hi:
One other thought. ices2 would serve your purpose if it ran under win32,
but I don't know if there's any plans to port it.

icecast2 sig-HUP
Hi:
I noticed in an icecast2 log that a HUP will reload the server config.
This is a nice feature. Are there any configuration options that won't
take effect with such a reload, or will it completely take effect? If the
ports have changed, for example, will these change?
Geoff.

ices compile problems (was: libshout compile problems)
Hi:
I've not had any problems compiling libshout and ices2 on my debian woody
system with the default autotools (I think they're automake 1.4p4 and
autoconf 2.53 if memory serves). I use libogg and libvorbis 1.0 though,
not current CVS. I do use libshout and ices2 cvs though. If auto* tools
turn out to be a suspect, you can get packages right up to automake 1.7
under woody.

Simpal Question
Hi,
have you the full url to that plug in as I cannot find it there sorry.
Andrew
<p>Hi:
I would suggest using winamp with the oddcast DSP plugin from oddsock.org.
You can get it to stream live input by using the advanced controls mode.

ices2 - Unreasonable error?
Hi:
I hit a problem where a script that should return one of a list of files to
be played is returning the same one each time. This is obviously not an
ices problem, it's what ices did with it that bugs me. Here's the error:
[2003-08-12 12:17:26] DBUG playlist-script/playlist_script_get_filename
Program/script ("/usr/bin/egosched") returned filename

Question/Feature Request
Hi:
Well, your main problem is that only 1 process will be able to read from
the soundcard. I can think of a bit of hackery that might work though.
If you're running ALSA, I believe there's a switch for arecord that will
cause the left channel to go to 1 file and the right to go to another. If
you got it to write these to FIFOs then maybe ices could use its wav input?
hmmm, the header

Can't you do it all from the one instance? I'm pretty sure I've seen it
done.

Howto stream using icecast/ices bit rate peeled ogg files
Hi:
Actually, if the stream were to peal to the best quality dependent on a
listener's bandwidth, the capability would have to be in icecast, surely.

icecast1 type stats logs in icecast2 ?
Here is a php script that parses out the stats.xml file from the admin of
the icecast2 server.
It currently only parses the page out to variables and still needs a bit of
work.
anyways here is the php source files
